ICE Chief: 9th Circuit Partly to Blame for Rise in Families Crossing Border

OAN Newsroom:  The head of ICE calls out the judicial court for it’s possible role in the recent surge of families attempting to illegally cross into the U.S.

Acting Director Thomas Homan made the comments Wednesday after successfully giving a speech at a border security expo in Texas.

He puts blame on a recent Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling, which restricts the amount of time families can be detained.

He explained that illegal immigrants see the ‘appeals’ process and other legal loopholes as opportunities to enter into the U.S.

In the first month of fiscal year 2018, Border Patrol reported a 45-percent increase in families apprehended at the border.
