NPR, PBS should be cut off – IOTW Report

NPR, PBS should be cut off

American Thinker –  As a fan of American Experience, the Ken Burns baseball series, and other programs on NPR and PBS, I support efforts to defund those networks in President Trump’s budget.

This is from The Hill:

“The Budget proposes to eliminate Federal funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) over a two year period,” according to the proposal.

“CPB grants represent a small share of the total funding for the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and National Public Radio (NPR), which primarily rely on private donations to fund their operations,” it continues.

“To conduct an orderly transition away from Federal funding, the Budget requests $15.5 million in 2019 and $15 million in 2020, which would include funding for personnel costs of $16.2 million, rental costs of $8.9 million; and other costs totaling $5.4 million.  more here

  1. Fan of Ken Burns? No thanks. Haven’t watched anything by that Leftest lyin weasel in years.
PBS, the propaganda wing of the Dem/Prog party. Defund them and make them pay back the money we already gave them.

  2. NPR and PBS are the finest and most transparent examples of conservative Americans footing the bill for their own jailers.

Besides, both were better sources of honest info and entertainment back in the 60’s when it only cost about $6.00/month for cable tee vee. Hard-hitting programs like Front Line and American Experience were more truthful when they didn’t have overblown budgets, fancy digs, and celebrity moderators. Nova didn’t spend so much air time trying to convince us of AGW, either.

  3. I remember stumbling onto NPR
on a automobile trip.1 black guy
was telling another black guy that
fatherless black homes in the US was
a myth… When the rate is around 70%.
Then a muzz dude was talking about peace,go figure.

  4. Lar, I agree! And so did conservative rednecks. And, surprisingly, so did obama. But guess who wants to keep that funding in place? Why be vague about who “they” are? Because “they” are the same people, the Progressives, who also like to fund PP, public radio/tee vee, etc.

    Nice try. Love ya, Larry.

  5. Left Coast Dan — Amen to that. If the gov’t is going subsidize anyone, it should be me. LOL!

Seriously, as much fraud, waste and abuse that goes on, we should all have free state-of-the-art health services, schools, fully-funded military, and a budget surplus.

  6. should never have been taxpayer funded to start with.

just try to take away anything government funded and watch the screaming begin.

it all depends on whose ox is being gored.

kind of like some businesses wanting more third world immigration for cheap labor.

    someone’s paying the immigration protestors.

  7. If every liberal who whines about NPR/PBS losing its federal funding were to contribute $5, NPR/PBS wouldn’t even feel the cut. But nooooo, we all have to foot the bill for their propaganda.
