Why aren’t they 50 points ahead???

DC: CNN’s Primetime Ratings Drop 30 Percent From Same Time Last Year.

The ratings are in for CNN, and they don’t look great.

According to AdWeek, CNN “was -30 percent in total prime time viewers, and -23 percent in total day viewers from last year” for the week of February 5–11.

CNN did not even crack the top 10 for primetime viewers on cable, while its competitors’, MSNBC and Fox News, were number two and number one, respectively.

The network’s commentators and guests have often been critical of President Trump.  more here

  1. AT&T is out there trying to buy Time-Warner, owner of CNN. Will they just give CNN “journalistic discretion”, or will they see these ratings and clean house because CNN has journOlists rather than journalists?

  2. That’s the best news I’ve heard!
The indications are that America is waking the fuck up!
America finally tiring of drivel and lies?

Now, if Madison Ave. could take a massive hit!

    izlamo delenda est …

  3. The low rating because CNN is fake news. You guys ever wonder why I’m so many airports you see CNN is because CNN paid the airport a lot of money to keep the TV on CNN . This is not fake news is real cnn paid the airport.

  4. CNN is supported by bundled cable subscriber fees, not viewer fees. As people cut the cable and subscribe to services where they can pick their networks CNN & MSNBC will go bankrupt as ESPN is doing.

  5. Our local library has a large TV on their downstairs level. In the 10 years I have lived in this area, I had never seen anything but CNN on this TV (I am at this particular library about 5 times per week). This week, I stopped by to pick up some materials and I glanced at the TV. They had the Weather Channel playing and we weren’t expecting any bad weather.

  6. This is an interesting subject. Information is a commodity. Who controls the news also to a large extent controls minds, culture, ballots and wallets. It involves more than just a single untrusted “news” outlet. The purveyors of this mind-numbing drivel have been poisoning us for decades. You cannot escape it.
It infests radio, television, cinema, classrooms, social media and mobile devices. They are coming for your internet, your bank account, your guns, and ultimately your self.
They are not stupid. They are dedicated and have been working on this for a long time.

    Welcome to the future…

  7. Remember one thing though. The viewers that are abandoning CNN are moving to MSNBC which is arguably as bad but more subtle about it. They are getting the same message drafted a little differently. Fox is likely to only reap a small, if any, benefit from CNN’s collapse. Maybe they can get the airport contract at a significantly reduced rate.

Further to @Mr Anth Ropy’s point about AT&T looking to buy Time Warner and what they would do with CNN. I would think their best bet is to fire Zucker and any of the other hosts. readers, producers or anyone in the network responsible for content and fill them with a mix of actual trusted news sources and new, untainted reporters. Move the show to what it actually was suppposed to be (unadulterated or shaped news) but still have a couple of editorial shows for each side of the political/social spectrum (but scrupulously even amount of time). It may take years but they could get the audience back
