Williamette Week:

In 2011, Portland Police Investigated a Sexual Assault Complaint Against Billionaire Mark Cuban. He Wasn’t Charged. Here’s What Happened.

WW has obtained the transcript of a Portland Police detective’s interview with Cuban. “Oh my Lord,” Cuban said. “Oh my f***ing Lord.”

In May 2011, a woman contacted the Portland Police Bureau to make an allegation against Mark Cuban, the billionaire owner of the Dallas Mavericks basketball team and one of the most visible figures in entertainment and sports.

Her complaint? That Cuban had sexually assaulted her late one night at an Old Town nightclub.

The woman told police she encountered Cuban in late April at the Barrel Room, at 105 NW 3rd Ave., and asked him to pose with her for a photograph. While they smiled for the camera, she claimed, he thrust his hand down the back of her jeans and… MORE.  [with transcripts]

h/t DANGEROUS.

  1. ” he thrust his hand down the back of her jeans and penetrated her vagina with his finger”

WUT? Seems almost impossible unless she had her legs spread like she was riding a barrel. I really dislike this asshole but come on.

  2. I thought that stuff like that was okay if you are worth billions….

  3. Even in one’s baggiest fat jeans and loosest granny panties, there’s just no way this is possible. I feel someone’s hand on my ass in public, I’m spinning around with an audible “WTF”. Some hammered drunk isn’t going to be able to navigate anyone’s clothing like that….. Unless the victim claims to be frozen in terror and confusion standing in a room full of people.

Cuban is a pig, but I can’t buy this one.

  4. People can be so dishonest when they perceive money is near and may be had for just a lie.

I was 8 or 9 when my father and I walked back to our apartment from the pool one time and some teenage or young 20s girls that lived in our building walked with us to their own apt.

I had spent the last few hours swimming, talking, and generally having fun as a kid at the pool and these girls were there the whole time – sometimes talking to me, but not Dad.

The girls and I talked the whole way back to our building. Dad was silent, mostly, and smoking a cigarette. They lived upstairs so we weren’t even on the same floor the last 30 yards or so in the covered breezeway. “Bye!” We all said as they giggled and everyone went into their own apartments.

Wasn’t long before I learned they were accusing my Dad of sexual contact during that walk back – actually while inside the breezeway part of the walk. Impossible.

But he was a Doctor and they saw $. He only finished medical school 3 years earlier. We weren’t rich at all.

It was weird to be out of school during the week and be downtown giving a deposition at 8 or 9. The girls were up for some pretty serious charges with my unchanging account of how things went. I had a photographic memory at that time and their story kept changing a little bit every time they went over it.

The prosecutor dropped the case. I have no idea if there were any legal ramifications for what they attempted.

Truth will set you free, but proving it can be hard sometimes and it turns into a he-said she-said which gives the liar equal status at the start.

This is also why I have dash cams – because people lie all the time in traffic accidents. I was run into on Monday, Mar 5. He was doing about 45 and was on his phone when he drifted into my lane and hit the brakes about 15 yards behind me before screeching right into my rear bumper on the passenger half.

He started off saying he didn’t account for me “moving like you did”. I was stopped in a turn lane. Also, there was no other traffic on our side of the road. There was no external reason for being distracted. You even have a hard time seeing him at first because he’s so far behind me as I was stopped & waiting for oncoming traffic to clear for my turn. As soon as he said that, I smiled and told him: “No. I wasn’t moving and I was in the turn lane completely. I was waiting for traffic to clear and I have video of this crash” as I pointed to it in my rear window. He cut the BS completely and even admitted he was distracted from being on his phone.

Yup. You can see his hand up to the right side of his head as he slammed on the brakes then slammed into me.

Get a dash cam, people. It has saved me thousands of dollars and tons of grief the last 3 years. Considering my last 3 accidents were being rear-ended in traffic, I bought a second one for that view. The investment of $50 each and a few minutes of installing them and setting them up pays off big time. I feel naked without them now.
