In her final days, Lionnet had sent messages to her mother saying she wanted to come home.
DANGEROUS: Last September residents in a southwest London neighborhood reported a “weird barbecue” and “foul-smelling smoke”to authorities.
It turned out to be the smoldering remains of a 21-year-old French nanny named Sophie Lionnet.
Appearing in British court on Monday, grisly details about the au pair’s life in London were revealed to jurors. The couple who employed her, Ouissem Medouni, 40, and Sabrina Kouider, 35, had trapped the nanny in a “domestic nightmare,” prosecutors said.
Kouider, a mother of two, is also reportedly the former girlfriend of Boyzone member Mark Walton, a popular Irish boyband. The pair allegedly confronted Lionnet with “outlandish” allegations and kept her a prisoner in their home, with Kouider accusing her of being “in league” with her former beau Walton, asserting the pop singer used “black magic” to control her.
Walton has denied the accusations of black magic.
Prosecutor Richard Horwell told jurors that more than eight hours of “harrowing” recordings were found on the defendants’ cell phones of Lionnet–seen emaciated, frightened and helpless–being interrogated with the aim to exact some sort of “confession,” possibly to later embarrass Walton.
