*Sigh* No, Being A Christian Does Not Require You Meekly Submit To Leftist Tyranny

Kurt Schlichter (TH): First, the oldest but best Christian joke in the world (The second best is the one about how what was going on in Gomorrah was so bad nobody will talk about it): There’s this Christian guy who gets on his roof to escape a flood. He prays to God to save him. A rowboat comes by. He says, “No thanks, God will save me.” The rowboat leaves, the water rises, and he drowns. He appears before the Lord and says, “But I prayed for you to save me!” and God says, “I sent you a rowboat.”

Donald Trump is religious Americans’ improbable rowboat, and I have $20 that says some obtuse idiot is going to write a column, or at least fire off a tweet, saying “Schlichter thinks Trump was sent by God.” Mark my words. If there’s anything I know, it’s what to expect from dummies on the web.

There are a lot of people frustrated that Christians back Trump and refuse to let his personal life be used as a wedge to pry off their support. They are mad that Christians are not playing their role as defined by their enemies. Christians are supposed to be scandalized and give up and lose. But they won’t.

Now, let’s understand this basic concept – Jesus was not some sort of whiny wimp who refused to confront the establishment and took comfort in his own righteousness while leaving others to do the heavy lifting. Jesus made people angry, because that’s what happens when you defy bad people. Being a Christian does not mean that you have to shrug and let the likes of Hillary Clinton be elected so she and her minions can fire up her anti-faith pogrom against those of us who dare worship God and not the elite she represents. Maybe you didn’t notice, but they do not accept the concept that we have any legitimate interests or rights. They hate us. And, if we are weak and stupid enough to allow them to take power, they will act on their bigotry and prejudices. Baking cakes is only the start.  more here

  1. That strikes me as a strange concept right at the beginning.

Immoral? Look up bolshevism, communism, socialism, progressivism, and 100 other “isms” to find degeneracy.

  2. Some of the disciples were pretty seedy, they jockeyed for position in the Christian hierarchy, frequently missed points Christ was trying to teach, and when Christ was arrested they cut and ran. Paul was even worse – he persecuted Christians, was probably responsible for the deaths of many early Christians and flounted his Roman citizenship when it was to his advantage to do so. But we venerate these people today because they eventually got their act together and spread this thing called Christianity despite frequently paying for their efforts with their lives.

Christianity was never a laid back, meek religion. The Bible and Jesus called for Christians to spread the Gospel and confront evil – if the early evangelists were meek, mild mannered and timid folks, we Gentiles may still be worshiping Zeus and the various pantheons of gods early humans worshiped. And no, we wouldn’t necessarily be Jewish because Judaism was a somewhat closed religion with Gentiles generally not allowed.

Christ prohibited personal revenge (i.e. his “turn the other cheek” comments), but had no problem with Christians confronting evil. In fact, Christians are encouraged to confront evil, and commanded to not let evil dominate their lives. The leftist that believes Christians should submit meekly to their demands, and the Christian who believes he or she must do so completely misses the point of being a Christian.

  3. When Jesus came upon a woman about to be stoned He said “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.” Just then a large boulder came flying towards the woman. Jesus turned and yelled “Mother!”

  4. Jesus didn’t preach tolerance and acceptance. Any one saying that hasn’t read the New Testament. He was a rabble rouser going against the establishment.
How about the money changers in the Temple? John 2:15
Right, Jesus was so tolerant he rampaged, turned over tables and used a whip to drive the money changers out. The Jesus I know was neither mealy mouthed nor wimpy.

  5. More irony from the left – using scripture as a weapon against Christians who oppose marxist and progressive activism. Especially, when they are losing ground indoctrinating special interest groups Christians are trying to influence.

  6. BTW, King David was adulterous, a murderer, a manipulative, couwardly scoundrel and neglective father, yet The True and Living God called him “A Man After My Heart”. President Trump is scandalous, but that doesn’t matter – he is seeking to do the will of God.
    Figure that one out leftists.

  7. “I bring not peace but a sword.” Matthew 10:34

“Sell your cloak and buy a sword.” Luke 22:36

“Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear.” John 18:10

It’s rather clear that Christ had no problem with his disciples carrying weapons and using them in the appropriate circumstances.
