A disturbed, bullied young man shot and killed ten people at a high school in Texas yesterday.
No, I’m not showing his picture of even giving you his name.
If we really want these events to stop, we must do two things:
1. Stop making schools soft targets.
2. And stop making media celebrities out of these troubled teens.
After Parkland, I pointed out what is painfully obvious:
I guarantee you that the next screwed-up guy who fantasizes about committing mass murder is eagerly devouring this coverage like it’s porn.
Because it is porn; it’s downright pornographic.
The future monster-in-the-making is scrolling through Twitter greedily feeding off the anger, the sorrow – and most importantly the attention yesterday’s murderer is getting.
Sorry, folks. The NRA is not emboldening the next mass murderer.
Cable news outlets, television and print news, the sputtering celebrities, hysterical politicians and potty-mouthed “comedians,” are.
Hell, even the people who go on social media to argue with all those idiots are emboldening him.
And the more constant the coverage, the more emboldened this killer-in-the-making becomes.
