Rep. Katie Arrington, Who Defeated Rep. Mark Sanford, Seriously Injured in Deadly Car Wreck

Breitbart: Congressional candidate and current South Carolina State Rep. Katie Arrington sustained major injuries and required surgery after a car driving the wrong direction crashed into the car in which she was a passenger, law enforcement officials say.

[…] The driver of the vehicle headed in the wrong direction was pronounced dead at the scene, according to local News 2.

“Katie was the passenger in the car traveling southbound on Highway 17, when a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction – northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 17 – struck the vehicle containing Katie and her friend,” a series of posts to Arrington’s Twitter account further explained on Saturday.

“Katie sustained a fracture in her back and several broken ribs, as well as injuries that required Katie to undergo major surgery including the removal of a portion of her small intestine and a portion of her colon,” the statements continued. “Additionally, the main artery in her legs has a partial collapse and will require a stint. Additional surgeries will be required including one likely today; and it is likely that Katie will remain hospitalized for the next two weeks.”

The posts emphasized Arrington’s extreme strength, “tremendous faith,” and “incredibly supportive family.”  more here

  1. I lived on Hyw. 17 “the coastal highway”.
Hitched hiked with surf board from Yulee,FL.
to Norfolk,Va. where 17 turns into 13 more than
once.It was the only route from NY-FL. before I-95.
Dark Dark road at night in 73′.2 lane with no lights.
My buddy Steve & I left out of James Island one night in
his ’72 GTO “The Judge”.Even with pollution crap the
400 c.i. pushed it out to 160.Some cold beers and some
seedy Mexican and we were in Myrtle Bch. in 45 minutes…
We loaded up my ’67 Valiant one night and took off to
the fabled Outerbank,NC for some surf.We were near Cape Romain and it was pitch dark! I was driving rather slowly when we came up on a large farm truck full of migrants. Not even a lighter or flaslight. They were broke down in the middle of the road. One day I will tell you
about the time a Charleston County Deputy picked me up
hitch hiking with surf board and carried me 60 miles to
the county line on Hyw. 17.I had balls back then,if he only knew
what I had in my back pack….
