Arizona Democratic Candidate Booed For Supporting ICE, Condemning Maxine Waters

DC: A Democratic congressional candidate in Arizona was booed at a debate Thursday after expressing support for U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement (ICE).

Ann Kirkpatrick, one of several Democratic candidates in Arizona’s 2nd Congressional District, raised her hand Thursday when the debate moderator asked if any candidates “would have declared [their] support for ICE agents without any increased oversight.”

Video from Thursday night’s debate, which was first highlighted by The Washington Free Beacon, shows Kirkpatrick was the only candidate on stage to raise a hand in support of ICE.

  1. That must have upset the Mexicans and for all practical purposes they call the shots in the democrat party. Any candidate that flashes a hint of rational thinking has just sunk their career.

  2. Anne Kirkpatrick is the likely Dem primary winner. She’s posturing for the general election so she can run as a moderate against the republican. If she came out the other way (against ICE, support mad max), she’d get trounced. The debate was in Tucson. Southern Arizona is a heavy blue zone in an otherwise red state.

  3. That may not of hurt her. Being booed at a candidates meeting is one thing but it may turn in her favour if it rouses out the moderate/leftish Democrats when the vote takes place.
