Sessions Defends Rosenstein Against Impeachment Effort

DC: Attorney General Jeff Sessions expressed his “highest confidence” Thursday in his deputy, Rod Rosenstein, the target of an impeachment push by conservative House Republicans.

“My deputy, Rod Rosenstein, is highly capable. I have the highest confidence in him,” Sessions said at a press conference.

Members of the House Freedom Caucus introduced a bill Wednesday to impeach Rosenstein over his handling of congressional requests for documents related to the FBI investigation into possible collusion between President Donald Trump’s campaign and the Russian government.

The motion accuses Rosenstein of withholding “embarrassing” information and failing to respond to subpoenas for documents related to the investigation.

House Republicans have for months battled the Department of Justice over the production of documents related to the infamous Steele dossier, which the FBI used to obtain surveillance warrants against former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

Rosenstein is handling the Russia investigation because Sessions recused himself from the matter in March 2017. Rosenstein appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller to serve as special counsel on May 17, 2017, a week after Trump fired James Comey as head of the bureau.  more here

  1. jeffie recused himself from all concerns related to mueller’s ‘russia’ investigation. The allegations pertaining to rosenstein’s contempt charge directly relate to that matter. His support of rosenstein is not consistent with a recusal.
jeffie, you apparently haven’t been too good with a recusal- how about you try an excusal?

  2. Moe Tom- I want to have patience too, and do also hope that he is doing good, somehow. But I realistically see that he just figuratively shot himself in the foot. Any good attorney could run pretty damn far and fast with what he just did. He may want out himself.

  3. Sessions is less concerned about the National Security issues, lawless corrupt DOJ and FBI officials, Clinton foundation scam, uranium one, security leaks and enforcing the law, Sessions is more concerned about Congress not doing their job with immigration legislation.
Go back to sleep Jeff, you abdicated your role as leader of the DOJ when you recused yourself.

Proverbs 14:8 The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way, But the folly of fools is deceit.

Past time for Jeff to go. Replace the lap dog with a Law and Order attack dog.

  4. He seems totally focused on illegal gang activity and immigration, while that’s a good thing it appears he’s reached the limits of his competency with that. He delegated his most important responsibilities to swamp scum and that was a fatal error.

  5. Sessions Derangement Syndrome sufferers can F off. Sessions is a pro. Sadly, the corruption is so huge the organizations and courts need to be cleansed of DS operatives. There is a reason he hired 300 more assistant US Attorneys.

  6. “My deputy, Rod Rosenstein, is highly capable.”

Uhh … “highly capable” of what? Exactly?

    Murder?
    Deceit?
    Obfuscation?
    Dissimulation?
    Treason?

What’s he got on you, Jeff? How “capable” is he?

  7. Sounds like we have some “Q” followers here. Got a question: Q claimed that Antonin Scalia was murdered. Is he suggesting that all the white hats are looking past that claim so they can get the corrupt government officials responsible on some malfeasance charge instead?
