Millennial Socialism: Stupid, Evil, or Both?

Kurt Schlichter: Congratulations, oh most insufferable of generations – against all odds and confounding the experts, you have still somehow managed to make yourselves even more annoying. Apparently, the hep new jive among your tiresome cohort is “Democratic Socialism,” resurrecting a poisonous nineteenth-century political death cult and putting a kicky new spin on it to make it palatable for the suckers. It’s the political equivalent of hipsters who insist vinyl records are superior because they didn’t grow up forced to crank their tunes on that miserable format.

The “Democratic” part is some cunning rebranding. Just stick “Democratic” in front of something awful and it’s good-to-go. “Democratic haggis”? Yummy! “Democratic herpes”? Sexy! “Democratic Nazism?” Hey, what’s the difference? National socialism, democratic socialism? It’s really just a question of who runs the camps because regardless of the particular brand of socialism, there are always camps.

Always.

That these millennial Marxoids lack personal experience with socialism does not stop them from embracing it. After all, socialism’s biggest fans are always the people who aren’t trapped inside it. Remember the progs who always fly down to Havana and/or Caracas to party with the local caudillo? They always fly home again.

Today’s millennial socialist dilettantes might consider consulting with some of us who have personal experience with this ideological cancer, but millennials tend to prefer to rely upon their arbitrary feelz rather than on boring old facts, evidence, and history.

  1. Both evil and stupid. And the states’ and federal congressional assaults on the Constitution creates terrible waste and unnecessary Supreme Court cases. It doesn’t seem right or fair that unconstitutional laws are foisted onto Americans until they are eventually argued and judged unconstitutional. I’ve never quite understood why laws aren’t vetted through a process before they are passed to ensure they are constitutional. Who pays for the price in the meantime? Certainly not those who are making their assault. I remember reading that the cornerstone of FDR’s New Deal was found to be unconstitutional, but I had no idea that six of his eight foundational New Deal laws were struck down by the SCOTUS! But the bad part is FDR then appointed eight liberal judges to the SCOTUS and his unconstitutional laws were resurrected under new legislation.

It seems to be one thing for the legislators to not know when a law is unconstitutional, but quite another when they know it is not. If the Left wants to replace our constitutional republic with a socialist dictatorship, they need to fight a war with the rest of us. I could be wrong, but they can’t do it by constitutional amendment.

  2. She’s a Soros puppet, groomed, to be a political puppet just like obama. I’d say brainwashed, but they’d have to have a brain. They are the epitome of political slavery.

  3. One thing for sure is all socialist wannabes that live in America currently live under a capitalist system. When comparing something they know and live (capitalism) to something they don’t know and don’t live (socialism), they choose socialism. That’s how bad capitalism is to these socialist wannabes, they are willing to walk down a path they’ve never been on while simultaneously destroy the path they are currently walking on. Yet, if they were proposed a substandard PlayStation and piss tasting Doritos, there would be riots in the streets; forgetting that Capitalism brought them their current PlayStation and Doritos. Not one of them would give up their PlayStations or Doritos for socialism; not a single one. Somehow they are willing to throw Capitalism under the bus for socialism though. Because every single one of these socialist wannabes propose current Capitalism as means to pay for future socialism. Ask them politely what happens to the future of socialism when capitalism is in the read view mirror. That’s when they should clamp up and steam should whistle out of their ears. But that doesn’t happen, not yet, they are still too friggin stupid, pointing to an all-white European Utopia, which doesn’t exist, as an example of successful socialism.

  4. Hard to lay full blame on these young people when they’ve been pumped full of this tripe throughout their public school education. Where were the parents involvement in the schools curriculum. In general we’ve allowed scum like Bill Ayers to have a heavy hand in school book publications used throughout the nation. Few people have spoke up about it because it was disseminated through a large charity{ Woods fund}.

  5. This has nothing to do with socialism but just FYI, vinyl IS actually better. I noticed that years ago when I had two versions of the same song – one on vinyl, one on CD. You can’t reproduce sound with the same nuances using 1’s and 0’s like you can with an analog device. Something gets lost in translation.

And I’m not a hipster, just an oldster.

    But my ears still work.

  6. @Vietvet……True, digital can’t seem to capture the full sound as well as the old LP’s. Even with some hearing loss I can detect a clear deficiency in digital. The sounds doesn’t capture the richness.

  7. It is not my place, nor is there any point, to argue with people who refuse to believe their own lying eyes. As for the rest…

If the soldiers of the Caliphate roll into town, and roll up the current regime… I will solemnly attend the executions in the town square. And I will dutifully welcome my new overlords. Not because they were my first choice. Not because they were my third choice. But because they are the only choice other than “Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.”

Now, if we arrive at the town square and a phalanx of Nazis level their arms, and insist the prisoners be turned over to them… as “There are ‘gas’ trucks idling, and time’s a vastin’.”… Well, still not my first, nor second choice… But now there is a choice to be made. And if, while mathing this turn of events out, a cry of “Liberté, égalité, fraternité!” goes up… Accompanied by farts in my general direction… And a demand to “Open ze gates! For ze guillotine, zhe is here!”… Well, well… Now, don’t I have a conundrum? But, choose I will. As best I can. All things considered.

If the Nazis should arrive with no sign of the Caliphate? If the Republique actually arrives before their smell? When you will actually implement “repeal” without “replace”?… First come, first served.

  8. From “Time Out” to “Participation Trophies” to “Safe Spaces” whats to expect from the socialist teachings of higher education. They are all still sucking their thumbs wrapped up in their blankies.

  9. I often wonder why the leftists don’t ever cite the most successful implementation of socialism in the history of the human race– the antebellum south where persons of African decent had free healthcare, free housing, free clothing, free education, hell, everything was free for them. And open borders, too, as practically anyone who made it over from Africa was welcome there. And unlike most other attempts at socialism it really worked. That’s the model they should be promoting–Oh, wait…

  10. Talk about being fooled by linguistic trickery. Had the concept (word) “ideology” existed when the constitution was composed the first amendment would have read: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or ideology . . . “

  11. @pbunyan — D’Souza uses this example (borrowed from another writer) in his new movie. He uses it to describe the living conditions of the black inner city (ghetto) run by Democrats. It’s a solid argument.
