Saudi Arabia’s State Media Tweet Threatens 9/11-Style Attack Against Canada

DC: Saudi Arabia’s state media tweeted an infographic that seemingly threatened a 9/11-style attack against Canada over condemnation of Saudi Arabia’s imprisonment of women’s rights activists.

The infographic, which Infographic KSA deleted shortly after tweeting, depicted an Air Canada passenger jet heading toward the Toronto skyline at low altitude. The picture also featured text reading “Sticking one’s nose where it doesn’t belong! As the Arabic saying goes: ‘He who interferes with what doesn’t concern him finds what doesn’t please him.’”

The 9/11-style imagery seemed to be an overt threat especially in light of the fact that 15 of the 19 9/11 hijackers were Saudi citizens and the fact that Osama bin Laden, who organized the attack, has a surviving son in Saudi Arabia who reportedly desires vengeance for his father’s death.

The threatening infographic came as a response to the Canadian Foreign Ministry’s condemnation of the imprisonment of those who protest for and promote women’s rights for Saudis.  more here

  1. Is this a ‘weaponized’ infographic? Or just a threating infographic? Who the hell came up with “infographic” anyway?

Is a meme related? Seems like the same graphic design DNA to me.

  2. That tweet by the Saudi’s was just as stupid as Canada’s public questioning of the Saudi’s treatment of dissenters. The family in question became Canadian citizens just a month ago and I suspect the Liberals pushed them ahead of others. This sort of thing is usually done back channeling without calling into question another country’s policies. The government and the man’s wife have made it worse for him now and he’s unlikely to get released until the end of his sentence in five years.
