45-70, we took the grandkids to see TSO this year, they thought it was great. 2 1/2 hours, no breaks. Everyone had a good time. You know what was weird though, everyone, guys and gals have long straight hair and they make throwing their hair around a part of the act. If they wake up with a sore neck their act is in trouble.

joe6pak-45-70, I went in the early days and have loved it always since. Actually has been franchised having multiple tours and never had disappointing troupe of musicians. Smiles about the ‘throwing their hair around’ take on it! So true, yet the original band was started by the ‘Tim Blake Nelson’ looking dude that started ‘Savagetage’.

I have to confess, while knowing of them, I’ve never heard them perform until this video. I am impressed.

Before becoming TSO, the band was a metal band called Savatage. The song “Hall of the Mountain King” was one of my favorites.

Okay folks…you did it. I have another entry on my bucket list.
Another orchestral Christmas sound is Mannheim Steamroller w/Chip Davis. Rush turned me on to them years ago.
Before they were Mannheim, they were Fresh Aire.
Before Fresh Aire they did C.W. McCall and the silly song ‘Convoy’. Yes, rubber duck, that ‘convoy’.

Went to see Mannheim steamroller…
We’re in our 50s and we felt and looked like the youngest people there..
At TSO it’s multi generational.. Young kids with parents, grandparents, and great grandparents..

Too funny.
Does Mannheim do a light show live? I always thought they were more studio than live.

45-70, have you not seen Mannheim Steamroller live? If not, save your money, they are better if you listen to them at home. I saw them about 3-4 years ago, and it was just a big commercial for buying more Mannheim stuff. We didn’t even stay for the whole show.
Thx! Joe… I was just wondering
Where I live we don’t have access without driving 350+ miles…one way.
Money for fuel, tickets, lodging, and meals is better spent on ammo, etc.

If you check the TSO event calendar, there are more than 1 of them, they play in different cities on the same night.
I did see Mannheim live about 20 years ago and it was a great show. Can’t speak to what they do now.

Love the song. Prefer this awesome video of an incredible Christmas light show choreographed to it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GufRiBUZQPc
