Family Sues Universal Orlando for Not Posting Ride Warnings in Spanish

Breitbart:

A Guatemalan family filed a lawsuit against Universal Orlando theme park in Florida this month for not posting ride warning signs in Spanish.

The family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the theme park, claiming that Universal Orlando was partially responsible for a 38-year-old father’s death because he suffered a heart attack after he rode on the “Skull Island: Reign of Kong” ride.

The entrance to the ride reportedly displayed a sign in English stating, “Warning! This ride is an expedition through the rough terrain of King Kong’s natural habitat. The movement of the truck is dynamic with sudden accelerations, dramatic tilting, and jarring actions.”  more

  1. So it was the ride, not 38 years of Guatamalan lifestyle, which killed him, huh?
Must be nice to cash in on shit that should be YOUR responsibility.
Especially when it’s deep pockets like the Dizzy Co.

  2. Dude probably broke in line to get himself killed. At all the Florida theme parks, you wait in line, and some Hispanic kid comes pushing through, “esscuse me, I’m trying to get to mi familia at the front of the line” or Hispanic dad comes pushing through, “esscuse me, I trying to get to mi familia at the front of the line.” I wish I could be on that jury.

  3. Is the reverse true? If I was to go to a shithole, Spanish speaking country and did something ill advised that cost me my life, would my family be able to sue the bastards for not warning me in English?

  4. If you cant read the warning signs maybe you should avoid the ride if you are medically fragile. But that’s a philosophy of “better safe than sorry” and “safety first fun 2nd” but in this brave new world where someone else is responsible for your well being what the hell.

I hope the family not only loses but they have to pay Disney’s legal bills.

  5. I’m surprised they aren’t blaming Trump border policies like everyone else. Probably was the double stuffed double cheese chalupa he had earlier. And…. if was is like most Guatemalans, he probably wasn’t tall enough for ride either.

  6. When I lived in Germany in the 60’s and 70’s, I had to learn over 200 signs in German, to get my driver’s license. I had to know enough German to read directional and warning information. I had to learn how to translate kilometers in to Miles per hour. They did not cater to every foreign visitor’s language; you were in their country.

Welcome to America; we speak English.

  7. Just curious-
Did they file their suit with the documents in spanish?
    No?
Wouldn’t they have to sign the documents, indicating they had read and do understand their content?
Did they just assume that everyone would understand English?
    Funny how that works.

They should have to demonstrate literacy in spanish for starters.
    Then throw it out.

  8. This sign should be outside the park – IN Spanish.

“If you DON’T speak ENGLIZE, than ANYTHING that happens to you IN here, is YOUR tough shit!”

In fact, that should be the ONLY Spanish language sign, ANYWHERE in AMERICA!

  9. Guatemalans are so stupid that even Mexicans make fun of them. Even if the sign had been in Spanish, would the Guatemalan have been able to read it? Maybe they should have pictographic signs so that even the illiterate will get it. No, F that, if you have a heart condition, you and you alone, should be responsible to knowing the limitations of your medical condition.

  10. Living in Miami in the late ’80’s, I remember voting in the “English Only” law which stated that all public signs were to be displayed in ENGLISH ONLY. I wonder what ever became of that law and, if it is still “technically” on the books, could that be the way to give the big F-You to Mr. Guatamala’s familia?

  11. Disney should only pay in Guatemalan money and only what the average Guatemalan is worth (not based on American’s life worth) – so give ’em 10 pesoes and a taco and let em go.

  12. The law suit should be thrown out of court as soon as evidence shows this couldn’t / wouldn’t have happened if they had first obeyed the Spanish language, south facing sign at the US border that told them – No Illegal Entry, Go home back to your own country. That ought to establish they don’t heed warnings anyway so it doesn’t matter there was no Spanish language warning at the Disney ride it would have been ignored.
