DC: Roger Stone, a mischievous Republican political operative who advised President Donald Trump in the early stages of the 2016 campaign, appeared in a Florida federal court Friday following his early morning arrest for charges arising from special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.
Stone, shackled at the waist and ankles, was released on a $250,000 signature bond following Friday’s brief proceedings. The signature bond provides that he will not have to pay money provided he continues to appear in court when summoned.
He faces five counts of making false statements to Congress, one count of obstructing a government proceeding, and one count of witness tampering.
His travel is also restricted to south Florida, Washington, D.C., and New York City. Stone said he does not have a valid passport, diminishing his danger as a flight risk.
“They couldn’t find collusion, so they’re trying to get him on an immaterial charge,” Stone defense counsel Grant Smith told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Dershowitz: Stone Indictment Based on Crimes Committed as Result of Russia Investigation, Not Collusion.
In a Friday appearance on Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom,” Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz weighed in on Roger Stone’s arrest by the FBI.
Dershowitz said Stone’s indictment is “typical” from FBI special counsel Robert Mueller in the Russia investigation because it is a crime that was committed as a result of the investigation rather than as a crime of collusion.
“[Mueller] has found almost no crimes that occurred before he was appointed special counsel. He was appointed special counsel to uncover crimes that had already occurred. He has virtually failed in that respect in every regard,” argued Dershowitz. “Almost all of his crimes that he’s indicted people for are crimes that resulted from his investigation: false statements, tampering with the witnesses, obstruction of justice.”
They’ll go through anyone, for any petty reason, to try to get to Trump.
And the more desperate, the more dangerous.

Good thing it’s a sign of sheer desperation, that that’s all they can “invent” (and use as a shiny penny in anticipation of upcoming actions of Trump), not having an iota of anything on Trump himself.
