Pennsylvania: Philly Union Boss Indicted, 116 charges against IBEW officials, city council Dem

WFB: One of Philadelphia’s most powerful union bosses and the city’s Democratic majority leader stand accused of embezzling funds from the workers they claimed to represent.

The Department of Justice indicted International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 98 boss John “Doc” Dougherty Jr. and several other union officials, as well as Democratic City Councilman Bobby Henon, on corruption charges. They face 116 counts of misusing of union funds to serve their own interests rather than those of their members.  read more

    The whole point of a union – ANY union – is to steal from the members.

    Remember Robert Reich saying that union bosses must hold their members’ feet to the fire? That’s NOT a declaration that the union bosses work for the members!
    Quite the contrary.
    (Oh, and on the surface, it looks like the DA didn’t get his check – or a big enough check)

Just one more fine example of wealthy, big city, cigar-smoking democRATz rewarding cronies with public funds, establishing hostile business environments, heavily taxing the most productive citizens, setting up fat pensions for their union friends running yet a nuther, run-down, shot-up, burned-out, phucked-up, poverty-stricken, crime-ridden, rat-infested, urine-soaked, feces-friendly, certified “Shit-Hole” for decades!
