Find someone to love you as much as the journalists love themselves

Patriot Report: In the interests of full disclosure, I did not watch the Super Bowl. I’m not a fan of football so I don’t see the point of wasting an evening watching a football game just because it’s the Super Bowl.

But since Super Bowl ads tend to make it to Twitter often before they air during the game, I have seen the five million dollar love fest the WaPo made in honor of journalists.

And you all thought the Oscars were a self-congratulatory circle-jerk.

Good grief, get a room.

It seems to me if you’re going to spend five million bucks on an advertisement, your objective should be selling yourself to potential new customers.  more here

  1. My Super Bowl I do not even cam on the Net. Just the audio might offend most. Features sliders, fast balls and belly flops.
    Hence, no s*its are given,,
    The Oscars?
I would not even honor the airing as a wealthy wapo.
    MJA, LOL,,

  2. Stalin never had propagandists this good.
America, where big media professional propaganda comes before truth and facts. Media integrity is right up there with the DOJ and FBI.

  3. “There is no such thing, at this date of the world’s history, as an independent press. You know it and I know it. There is not one of you who dares to write your honest opinions, and if you did, you know beforehand that it would never appear in print. I am paid weekly for keeping my honest opinions out of the paper I am connected with. Others of you are paid similar salaries for similar things, and any of you who would be so foolish as to write honest opinions would be out on the streets looking for another job. If I allowed my honest opinions to appear in one issue of my paper, before twenty-four hours my occupation would be gone. The business of the journalist is to destroy the truth; to lie outright; to pervert; to vilify; to fawn at the feet of mammon, and to sell the country for his daily bread. You know it and I know it and what folly is this toasting an independent press. We are the tools and vassals of the rich men behind the scenes. We are the jumping jacks, they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes.”
~ John Swinton (1829_1901), former Managing Editor, New York Times, journalist, New York Sun, circa 1880, spoken at a banquet held in his honor

not much has changed, has it?
