ICE Arrests 200 After North Carolina Counties Cut Ties with Immigration Officials

Breitbart: Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested 200 undocumented aliens in North Carolina after several counties moved to cut ties with ICE.

ICE Regional Director Sean Gallaghar said the raids were a direct result of the counties refusing to work with immigration officials.

“This is the direct conclusion of dangerous policies of not cooperating with ICE. This forces my officers to go out onto the street to conduct more enforcement,” Gallaghar said according to the Charlotte Observer.

Gallaghar added that ICE officers are forced to go out in the field in targeted raids because they no longer have access to many jails in the Tar Heel state and because county officials are not informing immigration officials of possible dangerous criminals that should be deported.

The counties of Mecklenburg and Wake, for instance, used to notify ICE of the legal status of arrestees, but new sheriffs changed that policy after recent elections. Durham Country also cut ties with ICE last year.

The increased raids in North Carolina will not end any time soon. Charlotte City Council Member Braxton Winston noted that one ICE official told him that the raids are the “new normal” since so many officials have decided to refuse to cooperate with the Department of Homeland Security. more here

  1. From the linked article: ““The recent actions of ICE agents are making persons, in our community, afraid of law enforcement,” the recently elected Democrat sheriff said.”

Good. Illegals in any community — especially those who commit violent crimes — should be afraid of law enforcement.

This is why the Democrats want to dismantle ICE. Unfortunately, without federal law enforcement, I don’t think it is hyperbole to say that most cities would be as lawless as the most lawless towns in Mexico.

Cartels and Gangs in Chicago (joint DoJ, DEA, Chicago task force): https://www.dea.gov/sites/default/files/2018-07/DIR-013-17%20Cartel%20and%20Gangs%20in%20Chicago%20-%20Unclassified.pdf

Cartel activity and the resulting gun violence between rival street (drug distribution) gangs is leveraged into so-called “gun control” by Democrat politicians and activists. Democrats ignore and/or hide the connection between cartel infiltration, illegal weapons, and gun fatalities in drug-related activity. They also ignore the profit motive of gangs warring over drug distribution rights and the “unfortunate” murder of innocents caught up in their crossfire and in the general lack of discipline that used to be the hallmark of gangs in earlier times.

Build the wall, reduce the river of drugs coming in from Mexico to a culvert, and then we’ll see just how much cartel drug running into the U.S. is to blame for gun crimes. For I am convinced that back of most of these so-called “random” gun crimes are tied — one way or another — to drug activity; either because of direct competition, people trying to obtain their daily drug money, people failing to make good on drug debt, “snitches”, and you name it.

  2. ICE has more than 20,000 employees with 400 offices around the U.S. and abroad. Since the agency’s creation, the number of ERO officers alone has doubled from 3,000 to 6,000.

Administratively top heavy, like most federal agencies.

More officers on the street, more arrests and more deportations.

  3. I have twin sisters living in NC. the one is a bit left of bernie sanders and is probably fully invested in getting rid of ICE and all things conservative. and the balance to her is her sister who is somewhat to the right of,say, Gen George Patton. I love them both, but am happy they are there and I am here.
they both probably have some sense of guilt which drives their viewpoints, but I sure don’t need to know what that is all about. they were both arrogant and scornful young women but time and gravity have a way of evening things out.

  4. Mainly the sewers of Charlotte, surprisingly not yet a sanctuary, for Hispanics. Then you have Wake County for all the Middle East violators learning to make bombs in the engineering classes of the triangle campuses.

    GO GET ‘EM ICE!

  5. NC has a Demwit governor, Roy Cooper and a Demwit House majority. He just appointed a socialist, black female puppet Chief Justice.

Rabid progressives are moving into the state at a very rapid rate, bringing their deadly leftist policies with them.

Monuments are being toppled by progressive offspring who are polluting Southern universities.

It’s just a matter of time before North Carolina turns leftist stranglehold blue.

No surprise ICE is getting such pushback in NC.

  6. Apply the law to employers and government officials harboring them:
Hiring illegal immigrants can lead to many severe penalties, such as:
    Criminal and civil fines
    Loss of business licenses

Most fines are broken down to the following:
First offenders can be fined $250-$2,000 per illegal employee.
For a second offense, the fine is $2,000-$5,000 per illegal employee.
Three or more offenses can cost an employer $3000-$10,000 per illegal employee. A pattern of knowingly employing illegal immigrants can mean extra fines and up to six months in jail for an employer.

This does not include “harboring” illegal immigrants, or employing ten or more illegal immigrants in one year. Harboring an illegal immigrant can lead to ten years of prison time.
