Rosenstein Is Leaving The Justice Department

DC: Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein plans to leave the Justice Department in mid-March, agency officials told news outlets Monday.

A Justice Department official said that Rosenstein’s departure is not related to a controversy surrounding his alleged offer to wear a wire during conversations with President Donald Trump, according to CNN. Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe claimed in an interview that aired Sunday that Rosenstein broached the idea of wearing a wire to the White House in May 2017, days after James Comey was fired as FBI director.

McCabe also claimed that Rosenstein suggested using the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office. Rosenstein has disputed McCabe’s claims, saying that he was being sarcastic about wearing a wire.  read more

  1. The new AG should decline to accept his resignation, suspend him while a real investigation is run on his actions. Don’t let him run to the protections of a private citizen.

  2. Every time I think I’m being cynical about the corruption of Washington and all of our public institutions and the media, they remind me that I’m not being cynical enough.

All of these people should have their pensions seized and imprisoned. None of these articles talk about Rosenstein writing the memo to fire Comey which Rosenstein then used as an excuse to hire Mueller. None of the articles talk about Hillary Clinton giving McCabe’s wife $700,000 to run as Democrat in Virginia which should have prompted immediate calls for recusals for conflicts of interest.

While Jeff Sessions recused himself because he shook somebody’s hand once at a public function. This is all fucking nuts. Victor Davis Hanson’s recap at American Greatness didn’t go far enough.

Drawandstrike (Brian Cates) has a different take on this.
    1. RR didn’t join the DOJ until 2 years after the plotting started. Why would he sign on to be a part of it after Trump already knew about the plotting?
    2. RR has to resign because he will be a star witness against the coup plotters.
    3. Trump only has said good things about RR. Trump trusts him.
    4. It was decided moths ago the RR would leave when the new AG was confirmed.

  5. Our corrupt DOJ, FBI and many of our criminal courts will do everything possible to run any investigation into the ground. They need to be shutdown and rebuilt from the subbasement upward. Until then, nothing will change for the good, and only get worst.

  6. I may be wrong, but it is my understanding that as an active employee he can be compelled to testify under oath, or face the penalty of loss of pension and retirement benefits. As a citizen, he would need to be subpoenaed for testimony, if unwilling, and then he could also refuse answering specific questions, with no threat to pension or benefits.
