Daily Signal: Colorado baker Jack Phillips is 2-0 now after state officials dropped their second attempt to coerce him into baking products that violate his beliefs.
Phillips, in turn, dropped a federal lawsuit.
“I have and will always serve everyone who comes into my shop; I simply can’t celebrate events or express messages that conflict with my religious beliefs,” Phillips said in a statement Tuesday.
“Today is a win for freedom,” he added. “I’m very grateful and looking forward to serving my customers as I always have: with love and respect.”
On the same day Phillips won in a 7-2 decision in the U.S. Supreme Court, June 26, a lawyer asked Masterpiece Cakeshop to bake a gender transition cake that was pink on the inside and blue on the outside.
The Supreme Court had overturned the Colorado Civil Rights Commission’s decision against Phillips, which involved Phillips’ decision to not bake a cake for a same-sex ceremony.
The Colorado Civil Rights Commission, which had previously targeted Phillips for fines regarding the same-sex wedding cake, again found probable cause that state law required him to bake and design the gender-transition cake.
Phillips, in turn, filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado.
“Colorado was relentless in seeking to crush me and my shop for living consistently with my deeply held religious beliefs,” Phillips said.
On Tuesday, Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser, a Democrat, announced the Colorado Civil Rights Commission was dropping its action and Phillips would drop his federal lawsuit. more here
Turns out this is as much about artists rights as well religious rights, they are intertwined.
His BUSINESS is not called Masterpiece for almond nuttin’.
His work is of a higher calling…
He makes me proud. He is a fighter.
Former Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper announced his run for President…..the Colorado civil rights commission is an appointed bureaucracy not elected…..Hickenlooper is cleaning up his chicken coop….Beware of this Howdy Doody motherfucker…..
P.S. he never cleaned his walk of snow when required to, and he was Mayor of Denver…..he’s scum…
May God grant me the courage of Jack…
OK, Lazlo has been an artist all his sorry existence. This explains the lack of a cogent career. An artist’s nature is to love what he/she does, because the pay ain’t great for most of us.
And some asshole comes along and wants you to do something you don’t want to do, and when they don’t get their way, they sue your ass for not wanting to make your art into something you don’t want to do. Especially as they picked you because they knew you wouldn’t do it. This is crap.
Your art belongs to you, even when someone pays you. You let it go out into the world. People know you by your works.
This is mind rape.
Fuck those Gay Bastards.
He should open a Chick-fil-A next…
Doesn’t a plaintiff have to show harm? Phillips refers them elsewhere, there are plenty of places they can get a cake, so where is the harm?
This is, and has been from the start, an act of direct hostility to Christianity by the State of Colorado.
You have never seen this sort of direct attack on any religion other than Christianity take place, yet they are taking place at an ever increasing pace now and being ordered by those in the highest places of civil and governmental leadership.
It is very important to the anti Christians to force Christians to violate their religion, even to the extent of actually forcing participating in Pagan rituals such as homosexual marriage and female impersonations.
It is a sign of the approaching dark times that are going to fall upon all of us soon. Be ready for them, they won’t be pleasant.
Again, change the words on them. Change the argument.
Let’s call ourselves artists, not bakers, and this way the totalitarians can’t go after you…
Oh.Wait.Nevermind.
Mao et al did that.
Chickenlooper and his chicken coops…
My understanding is that the reason they dropped the suit is that the lawyer for the baker found a number of other instances where other members of the Colorado Civil Rights Commission had either said similar anti-christian comments or had publicaly agreed with the statements made by another member of the Commission which cost them the first case.
Wait for the State to replace the members of the Commission that made the comments with “clean” ones then they’ll go after the baker again. The baker should have never dropped his case.
THe CO CRC members should be harassed by the decent citizens until they move their hateful asses out of the state.
They totally abused their power vindicatively for sexual degenerates. I hope they burn in Hell.
