Democratic Massachusetts Rep. Ayanna Pressley on Tuesday evening introduced legislation to lower the federal voting age from 18 to 16.
Pressley cited teen activists pushing for gun control as a reason for giving 16-year-olds the right to vote, which the congresswoman compared to having a driver’s license.
“Young people are at the forefront of some of our most existential crises,” Pressley added. “The time has come. Our young people deserve to have the opportunity to exercise their right to vote.”
Two other Democratic congresswomen, Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib and New York Rep. Grace Meng, offered their support for Pressley’s legislation.
“I’m committed to making sure we empower young people to build our future together. Giving them the power to vote will help build a more equitable and just future,” Meng said in a statement posted to Twitter on Tuesday.

No. They’re far too naive at 16. Watch videos like Leno’s Jay-Walking as Leno asks 22 year old college graduates to answer very simple basic questions. Most fail miserably. If 22 year old college graduates are so unprepared for the real world why do these fools think 16 year olds are any better?

We need to increase the qualifications and requirements for being able to vote, not decreasing them. Hell, let’s have the whole frickin world vote in our elections. That’s the fairest way to do it that I can think of. It will be great, Maduro could be our President.
If they can vote at 16 they should be able to buy guns at 16. How bout that dumb ass libs?
16 years old is old enough to vote. 25 years old you’re not old enough to get your own health insurance. 18 years old you can go into combat and die.

The voting age was lowered to 18 because 18 years olds had “skin in the game”. 18 year olds were being drafted and sent to war with no ‘voice’ in the process. Lowering it to 18 made sense at the time. 16 yr olds have no ‘skin in the game’, their parents are still legally responsible for them, and they’re certainly not subject to the involuntary draft. This shit makes no sense.
For heavens sake, they aren’t even out of school at 16. Hell, why not just make it 12?

Give the unborn the right to vote on pro-life issues.
Of course they want minor children to vote…and felons…and non citizens…and the deceased. Sure, teen activists pushing for gun control need to be heard. Because Democrats care about children.

There are many 18 and above that that shouldn’t be allowed to vote.
If you can’t name your representatives and pass a basic civics test… no voting for you.
Voting age in fed elections should be the same as the age requirements for those on the ballot. You shouldn’t be voting for a House representative unless you’re at least 25, for a senator you should be 30 or older, for president at least 35.

If we haven’t snipped your spinal cord with chicken shears you will be issued a birth certificate (gender to be decided later) and a voting card. Both of which can be revoked at the party’s whim. Incidentally, in order to protect the party and its major players, the age of consent comes with your birth certificate.

The only 18 year olds with “skin in the game” were/are those in the military. In my opinion, only they should be allowed to vote; everyone else can wait until they are at least 21.
I had to wait to 21.
Because I went year round and got my degree in three years, I was already a college graduate and a second lieutenant in the Air Force before I could vote.

This idea has worked VERY well so far, giving 18 year olds the vote.
