People, and I use that term loosely, are mad at Assange because he was a key factor in HRC’s humiliation.
I’ve been praying for him, because while what he did was illegal, our government is horribly corrupt and we found out things we never would’ve known if not for WikiLeaks.
And Hillary can choke on one of Bill’s cigars. Vile creature.
I just know that she was involved with this somehow.

I tend to get bored with the 24/7 cycle of a particular event. So I only recall bits and pieces after nearly a decade passes.
But wasn’t Assange the left’s hero back then?
It was strange watching Wikileaks morph, in a matter of months, from “an international non-profit organisation that publishes secret information” and beloved by leftists, into a “Russian tool”, despised by the D.C. Establishment Uniparty.

That’s how I remember it, also. The Deep State Unipartyers were pissed and the Occupy Wall Street Left and many (most?) Libertarians and some old-fashioned Republicans were ecstatic with him.
Since then, the “Left” has been taken over by the Deep Staters in a full court press. (At least that’s how I’m explaining what’s happened – it’s bizare.)

jmb, took my hint, but alleged facts do differ depending on who is telling the bitter truth. There is no bravery for any US Military being in Afghanistan, for they are there only as mercenaries for opium, mineral deposits, and oil pipeline there. They are not protecting and defending Americans by forcefully occupying Afghanistan for years on end.
