Bill Hagerty, the current U.S. Ambassador to Japan, will run for an open U.S. Senate seat in Tennessee, President Donald Trump said on July 12.
“Tennessee loving Bill Hagerty, who was my Tennessee Victory Chair and is now the very outstanding Ambassador to Japan, will be running for the U.S. Senate,” Trump said on Twitter.
“He is strong on crime, borders & our 2nd A. Loves our Military & our Vets. Has my Complete & Total Endorsement!”
The seat is being vacated by Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), who announced in December 2018 he would be stepping down at the end of his term. read more
At long last….I began my involvement in politics working on Lamars’ first run for governor. If I only knew then what a waste of time he would be!
