“This is unbelievable. I can’t believe I live in a city where this is not Third World. This is medieval.”
American Thinker:
It is no coincidence that the streets of Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle are full of homeless people, shooting up drugs and discarding their needles on the sidewalks, defecating and urinating wherever they happen to be standing, sitting, or squatting, and accosting passers-by demanding money. The left-wing politicians and their voters tolerate and subsidize this behavior, so they attract people who want to live this way in growing numbers.
As the old saying puts it, there’s an easy way and a hard way to solve this problem. And a problem it is, because of the settled science of epidemics. Already, homeless encampments have led to a population explosion of rats (feeding off the scraps of food that the homeless can’t be bothered to dispose of properly) as well as other disease-carrying vermin.
Joseph Curl features a warning from a medical doctor unafraid to speak truth to (progressive) power:
Dr. Drew Pinksy said on Thursday.
“We have a complete breakdown of the basic needs of civilization in Los Angeles right now,” Pinsky told Fox New host Laura Ingraham. “We have the three prongs of airborne disease, tuberculosis is exploding, rodent-borne. We are one of the only cities in the country that doesn’t have a rodent control program, and sanitation has broken down.”
Pinsky said bubonic plague — also known as the “Black Death,” a pandemic that killed off millions in the 14th century — is “likely” already present in Los Angeles. The plague is spread by infected fleas and exposure to bodily fluids from a dead plague-infected animal, with the bacteria entering through the skin and traveling to lymph nodes.

I don’t know that Dem voters tolerate that behavior, they are just under the mistaken belief that the Dem politicians’ hands off attitude is the way to fight it.
You may want to listen to Scott Adams https://youtu.be/72x2LfvSfE4. He is the creator of Dilbert. He has a segment on this subject.
Not to worry. DDT works great for killing fleas.
Oh, wait…
And this bunch still think climate change is what will ultimately wipe out their population. Jackasses.
Goes right along with the Dark Ages we’ve been heading toward for quite a while now.
Without a doubt; Soros is gleefully relaxing in his impenetrable fortress, violating little children, dispensing money to liberals for continued mayhem, buying off politicians and wrecking as much havoc against America as his money will buy.
Sylvatic plague is nothing to mess with. We ask if we could shoot rockchucks in on a small farm in central Washington and were told: No way they are pets. They were all under the house and had undermined part of the foundation.
Holy crap says I, that isn’t even funny.
The next visit to the area we ask where the house went, the health department has burned the place to the foundation and neighbors said one of the kids caught the plague from the rockchucks and the rest of the locals backed up that story.
So that’s the problem!
This is precisely why I drive through big shitties and don’t visit them.
Third world cities are much cleaner. There is very little the people call ‘garbage’.
Yersinia pestis is endemic in the Western US and throughout much of the Americas. There are isolated cases of plague, both bubonic (spread by flea bites) and pneumonic (spread by contact with infected body fluids and aerosols — and much, much deadlier) in the US every year. I don’t remember seeing any reports of outbreaks of the bubonic or pneumonic forms.
Outbreaks of both forms are relatively common in Peru and other Latin American countries. The Peruvian cases are usually associated with sugar cane harvest in the densely populated desert valleys along the coast. When the cane fields are burned, the rats flee to refuge in the surrounding towns and villages, forcing residents into close contact. Poor hygiene habits don’t help.
If urban rats in California are exposed to wild rodent populations (or wild/domesticated predators) that likely carry the endemic Yersinia pestis (among other pathogens) will increase the likelihood of outbreaks of bubonic plague among those who live close to those rats, or to dogs or cats that prey on them. the greatest risk is with an outbreak of the pneumatic form. Once the plague mutates to this form, it becomes highly contagious and very, very deadly, often within hours.
For those who worry, never handle dead or sick animals (don’t even get close) and try to not let your cats and dogs “free range”(good luck with that). The greatest risk, for now, is in rural and wild areas. Hopefully, our public health officials will warn us if Y. pestis is found in urban rats, and aggressively monitor the “homeless” for symptoms of either forms of plague (good luck with that).
@JDHasty: When I was a kid we used to chuck rocks at each other, but the rock chucks you’re talking about sound like they might be some sort of animal.
Hopefully, the crooked elected officials die first, so the problem can be solved.

@Vietvet,
He may be referring to ground squirrel’s. We used to have these squirrel’s at my grandfather’s place in far northern California. Gray in color, but they had a skinny tail rather than the bushy tree squirrel variety. They made burrows and lived underground. They would burrow under your house for the warmth, and make your foundation collapse. They also had a roughly 7 year cycle of some kind of plague. My job as a boy was to keep a perimeter around his house clear, and I expended large amounts of .22LR in the attempt. Feral hogs eventually moved in and clobbered their population. I visited recently, and didn’t see a single one.

Like termites, demorats destroy anything they come in contact with. Los Angeles used to be a wonderful place but decades under the control of the rats has turned it into a cesspool. It has joined Newark, New York City,Chicago, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, Detroit, St Luis, & others that have become victims of democrat rot.
We have pharmaceuticals to deal with that.
No worries.
Plus: as long as it stays in LA, who GAF?
Throw in Chicago, New York, Boston, St. Louis, Gary, Atlanta, Memphis, Detroit, St. Paul, San Francisco, Baltimore, New Orleans, Birmingham, Jackson, and a few others, and you got a deal!

@Tim,
Yes, no worries, the timely use of antibiotics reduces mortality rates from 66% to around 11%. So, if everyone does what they are supposed to, you only have a one in ten chance of dying, after contracting the disease. Pneumonic plague mortality rates are substantially higher (and probably influence the overall average), but incidents of that form are much less common in the US. Modern medicine is good, but it is far from perfect.
The CDC gives some excellent information here: https://www.cdc.gov/plague/index.html
Unfortunately, the specter of the plague being transported to other cities and states is not far-fetched enough. Cities regularly bus the “homeless” to cities deemed to be more amenable (suckers — if you build “homeless” shelters, they will come). Those trips are often halfway across the country or more. It is an epidemiological nightmare for a broad range of pathogens.
Iirc, the outbreak in Madagascar was exacerbated by burial traditions that encouraged the handling of corpses by family and friends. Not a good idea. There are similar problems in trying to control ebola outbreaks in the central Africa. Think about that the next time you read about a judge blocking flight restrictions from disease ridden countries, or about unrestricted movement of other-than-Mexicans across the border.
Application of contemporary political correctness to public health gives priority to protecting infected individuals from being stigmatized, rather than protecting the public from dying. That idiocy crosses the aisle.
Politicians and other elites are determined to destroy our economy based on the Precautionary Principle regarding Climate Change, but they refuse to apply that same principle regarding real threats to public health.
