Dennis Prager:
When assessing America’s or any of the Western world’s universities — wondering whether you should send your child to one; whether you should pay for a child to attend one; whether you should go into great debt to attend one; whether you should donate money to one; and related questions — it would seem that the single most important question to be answered is: What type of person does the university produce?
It is hard to imagine any parent — left, right, liberal, conservative or apolitical — who would disagree with asking this question. They would disagree about what constituted a desirable outcome — obviously left-wing parents would want their child’s college to send home a child with left-wing views, and a parent on the right would not be happy if their child returned home with left-wing views — but every parent would agree that the question, “What type of person did college produce?” is an important one.
My belief is that most of the time, colleges today produce a worse human being or, at the very least, a person who is no better, wiser or more mature than when he or she graduated high school.
Let’s begin with behavioral issues.
There is a good chance your son or daughter will have spent much of his or her free time at college partying, which often means getting drunk, smoking marijuana and hooking up with someone for casual sex. While none of those activities necessarily means your son or daughter became a worse human being, all of us can agree that none of them made your child a better one.
Regarding college drinking, Alcohol Rehab Guide, an online alcohol addiction site, reports:
“A large percentage of college students consume alcohol by binge drinking. … For men, binge drinking involves drinking five or more alcoholic beverages in two hours. On the other hand, binge drinking for women is considered four or more drinks within a two-hour time period.” more here
If they got a Bachelor of science, yes. Or accounting. Etc.
Otherwise, it’s like they never left high school.
The person who wrote this article must be reflecting on his own personal experience at college. Yes, for him it was obviously a waste of time. The sad result of going to college is not being able to find a job when done. There are graduates who have seriously planned on being employed well because of attaining a degree and have not wasted themselves on alcohol binges while doing it. The outsourcing of American businesses and the continuing of bringing in multitudes of visa Indians has robbed American graduates the needed and hoped for opportunities they went to college to qualify for. So a majority of graduates have become better persons more than willing to take up the responsibilities of life. To be deprived of carrying out the mature, adult life they have prepared themselves for is an emotional, psychological burden they have to carry while trying to acquire a stable, productive life.
My brilliant daughter, with such promise, returned from college a know-it-all, tattooed, crypto-lesbian.
My sweet lovely niece was the oldest of four children raised in a rural farming community. She was home schooled by a fine Christian mother except for her last two years of high school. Loved by a large caring close knit extended family. Admired by friends and family for her grace and sweet disposition, then she went to college. She knew what she wanted to be in life and studied hard making good grades and it looked like she was off to a great start. I heard that after earning her degree she decided to get her master’s and while home on break from college I was at a family gathering and spoke to her about her life and progress in school. She proudly told me she was a progressive liberal and praised her professor for opening her eyes to the truth citing authors and their manifestos. I guess she saw the shocked look on my face and concluded by saying. But you wouldn’t understand. No I’m only three times her age stupid old man. Well twelve years later all her siblings got their degrees and are doing well in their carriers they are well balanced and starting family’s while my progressive liberal niece in off work due to the perssures of life she has no family of her own, is on medications, drink’s, and is an emotional mess. I believe her world view is to blame and I know the liberal professors at collages all over America are doing this to many young men and women who believe they are smarter than their families when in fact the are educated fools.
Don’t have kids but I can speak for myself.
I rebel against whatever is over me. I left high school an arch liberal. I left college a radical conservative.
“Gain control of the schools, use them like
transmission belts to spread socialism”
“Give me 4 years and the seed I plant in the young students will never be uprooted”. The long march thru the institutions…

“…I rebel against whatever is over me. I left high school an arch liberal. I left college a radical conservative.”
Q.: “What are you rebelling against?”
James Dean: “What have you got?”.
-“Rebel Without A Cause”
“If You Are Not a Liberal at 25, You Have No Heart. If You Are Not a Conservative at 35 You Have No Brain”
-Various attrbutions.
Joining and serving in the Navy for 3 years before I attended college was the best thing that I did for myself when I was younger. At 22 and a veteran I was far more mature than the average college student right out of High School.
SNS: That might have been Brando in The Wild Ones.
Some would argue that those experiences have left me without either.
My college experience in the 70s was much different compared with today. I had profs that mostly taught their subjects without any agendas. One prof, teaching literature, had a very warped view of morality that I sometimes confronted him with. Fortunately, he enjoyed those confrontations, so I still received a 4.0 for his class.
Another prof, my mentor, challenged me to think. I loved him and had most of my major degree classes with him. He would present a view point and wait for our response. Usually, the students just accepted what he said, but I often asked questions to make him clarify his statement. After the first few months of his classes, I realized that he loved to play the devil’s advocate to make us really examine our positions. Thank you, Dr. Winget!

it is pathetically sad now….my full of joy, happy, intelligent full of such promise daughter returned an angry bitter it’s everyone else’s fault Trump hating idiot wearing all black and combat boots. I wish I had seen it coming sooner but colleges should be avoided like the plague and oh yeah, what I could have done with the nearly $200k I spent losing my wonderful daughter…..I pray each night that she will ultimately grow up and realize the utter bullshit she was indoctrinated was simply to allow power hungry morons to stay in power……fingers crossed though but it breaks my heart each and every day….
What kind of home life and what kind of values did those college disasters have when they left for college? How much responsibility did the parents have in influencing their own children before they left home? Why keep paying the bills for a rebellious taker? Tough love has an effect.

The lack of employment opportunities in the USA is a result of US government policies mandated by the US Congress over the years. The off-shoring of major companies has left millions without opportunities of jobs, but also has vastly increased the numbers of Americans on welfare subsidies. So it isn’t just college graduates who are among the unemployed. The immigration laws enacted by Congress have done much to destroy Americans’ opportunities, while bringing in un-American, less qualified replacements. The government of the American people functions as the government for the wealthy. corporate powers, and foreign parasites.
I Was A Computer Programmer. I Know Computer Programming. the Indians Programmers the Treason Lobby Wants to Import Are No Alan Turings—They’re Just CHEAP.

“The House of Representatives recently passed H.R.1044, the Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act. It’s now in the Senate’s Judiciary committee and could be voted on by the full Senate by September. Javanka is said to favor it, so the chances that President Trump will veto it (as he should) are probably low.
The adjective “high-skilled” is misleading—intentionally so, of course. The immigrants being favored by this act are lower-middle-class drudge workers, mainly computer programmers, most from India and China. ”
“Once upon a time we had a system of guest-worker visas to fill gaps in the workforce. When the visa expired, the guest worker went back to his home country. In fact, just to get the visa you had to show “non-immigrant intent”—you had to show the visa officer that you didn’t intend to stay in the U.S.A. permanently.
That’s ancient history now. The rules have been relaxed so that it’s easy to parlay a guest-worker visa into permanent residence—the Green Card—and thence to citizenship.
There are still currently, though, limits on the number of visas that any particular country can get in a given year. H.R.1044 eliminates those country caps. The incoming workforce, taking jobs that American college graduates should be taking, will be even more overwhelmingly Indian and Chinese.”
