Fed agency USCIS turns charge of policy protecting illegal migrants who receive medical care to ICE

TownHall:

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) said this week it has ended a policy that allows migrants to not be deported while they or their family members receive life-saving medical treatments.

A USCIS spokesperson told The Hill in a statement Tuesday that the change took effect Aug. 7 but provides exemptions for military families.

The spokesperson added that the policy is not ending, but will instead be handled through Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

“As with any request for deferred action, ICE reviews each case on its own merits and exercises appropriate discretion after reviewing all the facts involved,” an ICE spokesperson told The Hill in a statement Tuesday but declined to say whether the agency would be taking over the program from USCIS.

USCIS receives about 1,000 deferred action requests annually, mostly due to family or medical reasons. Most are not approved. more here

  1. Invent some kind of a medical transport pod that can be parachuted out the back of a C-17 like they do with tanks. Seat the whole family (familia?) in it, shove it out the back of the plane.

  2. In a few years we are going to pay dearly for years of our out of control spending. The come-to-Jesus event is going to be brutal. And we’re paying huge medical bills for illegals who get medical benefits denied to U.S. citizens?

  3. Surely the costs associated with medical care for illegal aliens taking advantage of this country must be cheaper in Mexico or Honduras. Charity begins at home. Send them home.
