We have these treaties with a lot of countries. They’re so we can continue investigations if a suspect leaves the country. Real example: a woman from Canada is reported missing by her parents. Canadian police open an investigation that shows she went to NYC to visit her boyfriend.
We have a cooperation treaty with Canada, so the American cops helped the Canadian cops. American cops find out the boyfriend went to Turkey.
We have a cooperation deal with Turkey but Canada doesn’t. So the police in Turkey were under no obligation to help the police in Canada with their investigation. That’s how cooperation treaties work.
There has to already be an open investigation in one country for the other country to help them with it. There is no open investigation in the US into Biden or his son. There’s no reason to ask for Ukraine’s help in the matter.
Except it doesn’t allow Trump to use the power of his office to withhold aid in order to win an election nor does it allow you to go after a private citizen who wasn’t under investigation in order to win an election. Trump wasn’t asking for documents or for information. He was asking for an investigation into a private citizen and his son, who were never accused of a crime. Sorry but the treaty is for looking into serious stuff here not for looking at someone accused of nothing at all. That’s the difference. Trump tried to get an investigation into a person based on winning.

This does not clear Trump. It is the other shoe about to drop. In addition to seeking foreign help to interfere in the US election, Trump and Barr initiated a secret investigation into Joe Biden with zero evidence he did anything wrong. The justification was a 10 year old accusation in the Ukraine against Hunter Biden, not Joe Biden. And the Ukraine prosecutor explained no wrongdoing was done by Biden(s). The US corruption is larger than most people know yet.
