SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Democrats who rule California took on homegrown tech giants Uber and Lyft over their workforces, convinced some of the world’s biggest automakers to buck the president on fuel emissions and passed a law that could change college sports nationwide.
On issues big and small – hotels soon will be forbidden from providing guests with little plastic shampoo bottles – California this year has marched farther left and tried to pull the rest of the country with it.
The state, given the virtual irrelevance of its Republican Party, is pushing the boundaries of liberal policy, forcing Democrats to draw their own lines on the role of government, corporate responsibility and social policies.
America’s most populous state (nearly 40 million people) and home to the world’s fifth largest economy (about $3 trillion), California has long used its weight to set trends. But that role has crystallized in the Trump era, with the state emerging as the nation’s defense system against rollbacks of environmental and health care laws and the federal crackdown on illegal immigration.
Trump, meanwhile, has pointed to California as a cautionary tale for the rest of the nation, casting it as a failed state of homelessness and intrusive government.
“They have to clean it up. We can’t have our cities going to hell,” Trump told reporters last month after traveling to California to raise money for his re-election campaign. read more

California is such a beautiful place. It’s a crime against humanity what the voters and pols have done and are doing to the minority of good people there.

But you know what? NY state IS as beautiful as well but in an old worn way, for instance the ADKs have rounded peaks, the major cities are more worn by by bad leadership than anything, tourism (like Cali) still exists!
Just about anywhere you go in NYS is beautiful, really, beaches, mountains, lakes, Great Lakes for that matter and hello the Mighty Hudson River, I am sure many on this site know the Empire State highways and byways well.

I’ll risk it and go out on a limb and say that President Trump will win Hawaii, Alaska, Washington, Oregon and California…plus the other forty-five states in 2020.
^^^ I-90 not I-87 was thinking of the Northway above Albany to the Canadian border, another great drive especially this time of year with the leaves…Cali I think might have some Aspens (mostly pines), but there is nothing like a drive among the oak, maples (several kinds), birches and yes some ash (I think) on the NY/PA border where Louisville Slugger gets their bat wood from.

Just trying to be optimistic. President Trump had a rally here in New Mexico and did extremely well. Then he went to California and raised 15 mil in a day. I really believe that he will try hard to win every state and the dims impeachment will help him.
Not to hijack the thread, but I just spent the weekend working at the Oddities Expo in Portland Oregon (we sold taxidermy items like they were going out of style). Trust me, I was the oddball-dressed person in Portland. Major weirdo paradise and rampant shithole it was.
Anyways, that being said, I’ve come to the conclusion that China could totally take over Portland with a minimal contingency of troops were they to invade; say 1,000 men? California might take 5,000 Chinese troops to dominate.
The Confederacy rarely gets such sympathetic press.
The left took control of the GOP “leadership” in Cal in’90. They have run far left folk ever since. We much chose between a hyper liberal GOP or a “center left” D! The one giant exception was the Ronny manPete. Pete crushed Brown; beat he 3″2!
Prima facia proof positive that the progressives running Cal GOP lie when they say they “really want to win”! If they ever allowed a conservative on their ticket they would win a landslide As Ronny + Pete did!
