KFI: The body of a Utah man who was last seen in 2009 was discovered in a freezer in his wife’s apartment. Authorities were conducting a welfare check on Jeanne Sourone-Mathers and found that the 75-year-old had died of natural causes. While searching her home in a retirement community in Tooele, they found the body of her husband, 69-year-old Paul Edwards Matthews, hidden in a freezer in a utility room.
When they searched the freezer, they found a notarized letter from 2008 in which Matthews wrote that his wife did not kill him. Officials believe that he had a terminal illness and was last seen on February 4, 2009 at an appointment at the Veterans Affairs hospital. Investigators believe that Sourone-Mathers put her husband’s body the freezer not long after they returned from the hospital.
Authorities interviewed the woman who notarized Matthews’ letter, but she told investigators she didn’t read it before she stamped it. read more
If he wanted to let people know his wife didn’t kill him why did he keep it on ice?
Matthews didn’t kill himself
And to think…I get p*ssed off when someone puts Bait in the Beer
Fridge…
Yeah, after I’m dead I’d probably write a notarized letter exonerating my wife.
I can see doing that.
Just in case I end up in the freezer, or something.
Romney’s from Utah, isn’t he?
izlamo delenda est …
Must’ve been a cold-case file.
Geez Tim; jaded much?
Baby it’s cold inside!
Seems appropriate as he had six pack abs!
“I think he died, and she kept him, so she didn’t have to turn in his social security,” said James Kite, who lives in the retirement community. “It’s been crazy. I’ve never seen anything like what’s been going on here.”

God, mercy killing is one decision I would hope never to have to contemplate.
That’s cold
In other news, the surveillance tapes from the outside of the utility room have come up missing.
You know they’re big on prepping in Utah, and it would be a shame to waste all that meat….
He had a terminal illness and probably planned this so his wife could get his benefits. He gets the notarized letter, and then hops in the freezer on his own. This way he falls asleep, dies somewhat peacefully and never wakes up. She gets his benefits.
I’m divorced but I’m convinced that my ex-wife would of forged that letter. She had plenty of practice signing my name on checks.
Hope nobody starts an “ice chest” challenge of their own.
