The Accelerating Growth Of The Second Amendment Sanctuary Movement

The Lid:

More than a hundred counties, cities, and towns in Virginia have joined the spreading Second Amendment Sanctuary movement as newly-empowered Democrats look to crack down on gun owners.

In New Jersey, the community of West Milford Township has been joined by the community of Sussex Borough in opposition to new gun control laws.

In Washington, grassroots volunteers are scrambling to fill Initiative 1094 petitions to get on the November ballot. That initiative seeks to repeal gun control Initiative 1639, adopted by voters in 2018.

In Illinois, more than half of the counties have adopted sanctuary resolutions. Ditto in Colorado. MORE

  1. Elections have consequences.

When people either elect power hungry fools or do not go out and vote they shouldn’t be surprised when those elected try to go after the people’s rights. These power hungry fools usually tell you what they are going to push for and somehow still get elected by foolish voters or apathy

Sure hope as this article seems to say people are finally realizing that ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!

  2. …this is just another feint to get everyone to register their guns with the State for convenient collection later. That’s why they’re proposing “Grandfathering”, as a pretend largess from the State to graciously “grant” them a God-given RIGHT, but actually so everyone will obediently give them a complete list of what their thugs, be they out-of-state troops, handpicked Police and Guardsmen from another part of the State, UN Troops, or just some of Obama’s “Just as well equipped” shadow forces, should be getting from you, with imprisonment or death if you fail to comply with what YOU told them you HAVE.

This will probably happen in the not-too-distant future after they have a nice list, perhaps sooner if their’s a real attempt to remove the President from office at the Senate, but certainly no later than October, but they will “let” you have your little “rights” right up until the midnight raids commence.

Ask THIS guy how it works. HE knows…

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?… The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If…if…We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation…. We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

― Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn , “The Gulag Archipelago”

…there was an earlier thread where a young lady spoke to this at a public meeting on the subject. She made many good points, but the BEST one was that Democrats WILL make murdering people to take their rights LEGAL, yes they WILL, but that does NOT make it LAWFUL.

Her best line to this, to me was this:
“Remember, the people who dragged Anne Frank out of the attic were FOLLOWING the law.

The people who HID her were BREAKING it.”

…I, for one won’t be in the attic, folks See Mr.Solzhenitsyn, above.

    Will YOU be?

    …we shall see, perhaps…
    …maybe sooner than you THINK…

  3. Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of association, freedom to petition the government over legitimate grievances, freedom of ownership and property and every other freedom the left doesn’t like. What part of the Constitution doesn’t the left understand? It’s all written in plain concise understandable English that any idiot who’s not a leftist can understand. And the biggest trinity of them all Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness. I will not obey or comply with any of the taking of my God given and Constitutional rights ever.

  4. A post on IOTW stays on top for about 15 minutes and stays relevant for maybe a few hours then is read no more. Why make such long posts that will have zero impact on anyone but those here, if that?

  5. ^^^…In answer to your inquiry, I suppose I feel like in something is worth saying, it’s worth at least completing the thought about, @Anon. I don’t limit my thoghts to 140 words just because someone else wants me to.

As to impact, I just put it out there. Others can agree or disagree, or ignore it completely as they wish.

As, indeed, YOU could have done.

But do I expect to change the world? No, mostly I simply post what seems relevant to the thread to me, as this forum is designed for. It may buoy others to know they are not alone, if they share these ideas: sometimes, they present others and make me re-think things. Not being a Democrat, I can admit I am wrong when I am.

But mostly, it’s about community sharing. My role is windbag, you may ignore me or not as you see fit…but, I’m not always WRONG, either. I may have some life experience you don’t, and it may help you understand the wider world a bit more to read me, or not. Won’t change either of our lives one way or another, it’s just an infotainment.

…I do respect our hosts, however, and if they have a problem with it, I will stop. I have discussed this with them om occasion, and so far I have not been limited by them. Until and unless they do so ask, however, I intend to be me. You are free to keep scrolling if you like, even challenge me if you wish. It’s all up to you.

…well, enough about ME. What about YOU?

Why, if I may be so bold, do you anonymously post what appears to be either a complaint or a query about another commenter under an anonymous banner, without any relevance to the thread at all? What made you stop and lodge this paragraph about a thing that, you yourself, say is breif and insignificant?

As a student of human nature, I’m just curious, is all, no harm or insult intended…

  6. The Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn quote, ‘And how we burned in the camps later,’ from, “The Gulag Archipelago”.

Reminds me of the scene in “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” when Martin Vanger lures Mikael Blomkvist into his home with the intent to take Blomkvist into his basement dungeon and murder him.

Telling Blomkvist after he’d been taken hostage – “It’s hard to believe that the fear of offending can be stronger than the fear of pain, but you know what? It is.”

There are of course true historic tales of people who feared coming evil. Such as the Germans who were fearful in the 1930s of Hitler’s rising power, and had plans to take action against him. But not wanting to offend by acting too soon, and likely be widely opposed. They waited for the right time when they hoped they would instead be widely supported, not opposed. They waited until it was to late. And ended up dead or in camps.

  7. @ deplorable

They’ve been working on the 1st A for some time.
That’s what the illegal ” hate crime ”
    designations are all about.

Why designate something as “hate” speech unless
you want to stop FREE SPEECH ?

  8. There may be a LOT of old “baby boomers” out there who are veterans or hunters or are terminally ill and have nothing to lose who look at certain politicians and think……….

  9. ^^^ Rights may be given by God, but they are taken by Government ^^^^

“Experience has shown, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny.” ~ Thomas Jefferson
