Ricky Gervais Opened Golden Globes by Telling Hollywood Stars Not to Talk About Politics

Lifezette-

Host Ricky Gervais kicked the Golden Globe Awards off with a bang tonight by sending a brutal message to Hollywood stars, the vast majority of whom are liberals.

Hollywood liberals love nothing more than using their awards shows to preach to the world about politics and the evils of Donald Trump.

Gervais, however, put them on notice that this kind of behavior will not be tolerated tonight, letting the elite stars know that nobody actually cares about their political beliefs.

Towards the end of his opening monologue, Gervais told the Hollywood actors, “So if you do win an award tonight, don’t use it as a platform to make a political speech. You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg.” watch

SNIP: Ahhh but you knew they had to do it anyway:

Actress Michelle Williams, at the 77th Golden Globes, called on American women to vote in their “own self-interest” for pro-choice politicians.

[Who the hell is Michelle Williams?]

The next drama queen didn’t even bother to show up. He sent in a video:

Actor Russell Crowe wasn’t present Sunday to accept his Golden Globe award for playing Fox News founder Roger Ailes in Showtime’s The Loudest Voice. But in an acceptance message read in absentia during the NBC telecast, Crowe blamed the wildfires currently ravaging Australia on climate change.

BTW, they’re blaming the fires on arson. But, you do you, Russ.

And Patricia Arquette brought her own golden globes to the Golden Globes:

Is she the transgender sister in the family? I forget.

  1. Ricky Gervais and I don’t frequent the same saloons but if was to see him in one I’d be proud to by him a beer. And as long as he is telling stories about tonight I’ll buy until he’s done.

  2. OMG, I love Ricky Gervais. Telling it like it is, irreverent, sarcastic, and really, really, funny. His latest show, After Life, which he mentions in his monologue, is brilliant. Plus he has a comedy special from 2018 called Humanity which is definitely worth watching.

  3. If Hollywood’s “icons” were still making great movies, they wouldn’t have to worry about Netflix, HBO and Showtime. They’re too stupid to figure that out.

  4. As soon as Hollywood awardees stop
    thanking the academy, their coworkers,

As soon as the thank yous are done

Out comes the oral defecation and

  5. Gervais was probably POed because of censorship. He acts like a liberal well aware of Hollyweird hypocrisy and bias. He said the “F” word every chance he got, along with other choice words. In fact his last words were “…f*** it”.
BTW, it was Gervais final “Globes” and he didn’t care what was happening.
The show was a leftist train wreck – that’s what made it entertaining, especially the wacko and strange acceptance speech by Phoenix for male lead role in “Joker” film. He really is unstable.
Whoever hosts next time will be in lock step with the left’s agenda.

  6. Funny jokes, most of them. Laughed out loud even though many of the jokes are more in the “We really don’t care who knows what we’re really like, there’s nothing the outsiders can ever do to us” category than the “here’s a righteous thumb in your hypocritical eyes” category. The look of fear on Tom Hanks’ face was priceless, though.

    Comment above:

“There’s always Dave Chapelle. They’ll dig the hell out of him.”

Let an unprogrammable black man on TV say things very similar to what this poofter just said? No way. They’d have him assassinated first.

  7. Did anyone else catch the Golden Globes and Ellen rewriting history? Her show wasn’t cancelled because she was gay, or because she came out as gay. Her show was cancelled because once the focus was solely on the fact that she was gay, it stopped being funny and ratings plummeted.

  8. I have liked Ricky Gervais in the past. When he came out as liberal, I was sad, but I still like him.

Even with this current stunt, he will still be a leftist Trump hater, so I can’t cheer too much. But I really did enjoy what he did!

Maybe I should hope that it wasn’t just a stunt, but that he had an awakening. It could happen, you know! But not holding my breath.

  9. I hated “The Office,” it was just stupid and therefore I had no use for RG. But this was hilarious and lately he’s been sticking it to the SJWs so good on him. Yeah Tom Hanks. HAHAHAHAHAHA!
