Hollywood is still pearl-clutching after Gervais’ Golden Globes performance

Breitbart: Ricky Gervais is hitting back at mainstream media criticism of his performance as host of the Golden Globes, pointing out that he took humorous aim at targets that liberals usually love to hate, like large corporations and the super wealthy.

Gervais tweeted Monday that people have been calling his Golden Globes jokes “right wing” despite the populist angle of his routine.

“How the fuck can teasing huge corporations, and the richest, most privileged people in the world be considered right wing?” Gervais asked.

Gervais appeared to be responding to comments like those from Vanity Fair writer and former Entertainment Weekly editor Mark Harris, who complained in a Twitter rant Monday that making fun of hypocritical celebrities is a “right-wing talking point.” more

  1. They’re still in a state of shock because effective humor that points out their hypocrisy has been directed at them for a change. They have an army of writers that bombard the republicans constantly with insults and smears, but this time they’re getting some incoming.

  2. The sickest thing is…except for the semi-retards like Paltrow, he didn’t say one thing that they don’t already know about themselves.

But I’m still cynical enough to believe they don’t really care anymore. They have become so globally powerful that they can cover for themselves with no legal risk to any of their anointed. Epstein proves that.

  3. “…former Entertainment Weekly editor Mark Harris, who complained in a Twitter rant Monday that making fun of hypocritical celebrities..”

I haven’t read his twitter rant. Did he actually write that?! That’s pretty funny dang funny. He actually wrote “hypocritical celebrities”?

  4. Hollyweird’s hypocrisy is boundless.
They “celebrate” perversion, pedophilia, nihilism, ignorance, and rampant imbecility while preening each other, fucking each other, and holding their entire Universe in contempt – particularly those who support them (the “little” people who gawk and hand over cash to see their schlock).
    “Golden Globes” indeed.

These greedy, grasping, mal-adjusted, permanent adolescents make a sickening spectacle of depravity, hypocrisy, and hubris while the fawners fawn – and Gervais’ schtick is paraded (great promotion, there) as “edgy” or “shocking.”

Not an ounce of substance in the whole lot.
“A sound and a fury; signifying nothing …”

  5. Just like he said in his monologue. It’s a joooooke! You’ve got no business talking politics, just accept your award and get the fuck off the stage.

Nothing is a joke to the anti-humor left. The can not and will not be laughed at, directly or indirectly.

What he said was funny because it was rooted in truth with common sense. No one has authority to expose Hollyweird truths or talk common sense. These people are not based in reality.

Had the goofs simply laughed at what was meant to be laughed at and accept a little side jab aimed at them, I might consider going to see a movie every now and then. But nope, they can’t, so I won’t.

  6. Sad to see what a ridiculous twat Tom Hanks has become. He used to be one of my favorite actors.

Charlize Theron was wearing a hideous green curtain draped over one shoulder of her underwear, and from some of the other things people were wearing, pretty soon “celebrities” won’t even bother wearing any clothes at all.

  7. Surely, someone in that town must be starting to grasp how dangerous it is for them and their business to be this despised by the public. Seriously, if there is ever a civil war in this country and the left loses, a lot of people in that room are some dead motherfuckers, and their end won’t be pretty.

  8. @ TheMule: Like their counterparts the journalists and teachers, they’ve chosen a side…now they are along for the ride. No “I’m just a reporter, reporting the news,” “I’m a comedian, it was just a joke,” I’m an actor just trying to stay relevant,” “I’m a teacher, it was for the childrennnnn;” Nope. You are all active in the destruction of the West (Christendom).

    Day of the Rope.

  9. Their feelings were hurt for a minute or two — Boo Frickin’ Hoo !! Then they go back in their bubble-top limousines, to their bubble-wrapped lives in Tinsel-town.

Tinsel is just artificial, sparkly stuff – with no substance, no staying power … just like these fake celebrities.

  10. There was a “comedy” called “Joey” starring Matt Leblanc that totally ripped the hollywood culture and network execs. So they know who and what they are, they just love being assholes.
