Republican Tennessee Governor, Nike Join Effort to Block Bill Designed to Protect Girls from Competing Against Transgender Athletes

Breitbart:

Nike has joined a group of businesses in signing a letter of support to defeat a Tennessee bill which would prevent biological male athletes from being able to compete against girls.

Tennessee’s Republican Gov., Bill Lee, has thrown his support behind efforts to defeat a move to ban students born as boys to be allowed to compete against biological girls in the state’s schools and other state-sponsored sports programs, according to OutSports.

The letter, sponsored by 142 businesses in the state, claim that other states will retaliate against Tennessee if it passes laws to prevent biological boys from competing as transgender girls and the resulting actions by outsiders will be bad for Tennessee’s businesses.

Several bills have been introduced in the state legislature to address the problem of boys competing as girls. Two bills in particular, House Bill 1572 and Senate Bill 1736/HB 1689, are currently being considered.

To date, Gov. Lee has opposed the transgender bans but has not yet signed onto the letter which is sponsored by a group calling itself the Tennessee Businesses Against Discrimination. The group includes big businesses from outside the state such as Amazon, Nike, and Dell. read more

  1. Cry me a tear the size of a horse turd feminists- Reality sucks, huh? Radical feminists shoving “girl power” down our throats while supporting all manner of social liberalism. Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind

  2. Winston, if the party says a dude with a dick is a chick then said dude with a dick is a chick.

Reality: a dude with a dick who thinks he is a chick is sick. If the dude cuts his dick off that just makes him a dick-less dude who is still very sick. You can scream, yell, stamp your feet and hold your breath until you turn blue but the facts of that matter won’t change.

  3. Why do you think there are records for men and records for women. The basic facts are women are not men and men are not women. There is no such thing as a real trans athlete.
Schools should add another category Men, Women, Either or Neither. Let all these “special” athletes compete against other “special” athletes and be done with it.

  4. Cucks cucking to the tune of woke banksters?

    Why, that can’t be!

(And, seriously, Tennessee! How limbless does your family tree need to be to declare “boys competing as girls” a “problem”? I hate to see stereotypes walkin’ slouchin’.)

  5. They apparently still sell enough sporting apparel and equipment to continue stupid. Hard to hurt a worldwide company. Rest assured they don’t send the same message in the mideast.

  7. Governor Bill needs to watch his ass. If Trump gets re-elected and he takes back Congress and builds the Senate majority then he’s going to be able to really get started on crap like this. On January 21st, 2021 he can hold a rally in Tennessee condemning the insanity that Lee is supporting which would cut Lee’s legs out from underneath him and set the stage for his replacement. On the other hand if the Governor tries a veto the legislature can override it and which would pretty well neuter him as well.

  8. I attended the State of the State east Tennessee address by Bill Lee LAst week at ETSU and gotta say I was quite disappointed. He is another flaming RINO The first half of his speech was just bragging about how much money the state is spending on education. With the exception of his support for the pro life position any of the current Dem contenders for president could have gladly given that speech, I hope he faces a conservative primary challenger in 3 years.
