Production ends for Chevy Impala

DC Patriot- The last week of February 2020 marked the end of the Chevrolet Impala but not for the first time. The last Chevrolet Impala, in a bright cherry red, rolled off the Detroit-Hamtramck assembly line around 8:30 Thursday morning.  Born as a trim level atop Chevrolet’s full-size model range in 1958 the Impala was bold from the outset. read more

  1. Now the poorly led GM can dig furiously for the rare earth minerals from across the sea to construct these decorative bubbles with color coordinated extension chords. Don’t tell me that a powerful engine won’t sell. How many batteries does a vehicle need to yawn down a highway?

  2. My older brother bought a ’64 Impala back in 1987. It was his first car and it was a huge piece of shit. He just sold it 3 years ago, and it was still a huge piece of shit. For some reason it was his pride and joy.

  3. My first ride was a ’67 4 door, 327/275HP, butternut yellow, Black interior, 2-speed slushomatic……. fine car! would pass most anything but the filling station…

  4. I had a girlfriend in about 2002 that bought a 1995 or 96 Impala SS. The damn thing went like a scalded assed ape and she was no better driver than any other 20 year old gal. What saved her from trouble was that she drove about as fast as your average tree sloth moves.

  5. The car they speak of was front wheel drive.

    It was NOT an IMPALA.

It should have been called “The Leaking Gasket”
    or
    “Unprofitable Taxi Cab”

  6. modern cars have no originality anymore
they all look the same and area all about the same size

  7. Real Impala production ended decades ago.
Front wheel drive with a 4 or 6 cylinder engine is NOT an Impala.
Likewise, a front drive 1.4 L 4 cylinder subcompact is NOT a Malibu. Remember the Malibu SS 396, 427, and even up to a 454.

  8. My son bought one of these body style Impalas in 2016.
    I think it’s a very nice car.
    – Not a race car but very roomy and comfortable.
    – We all buy American made American branded cars.
I am sad to see it going away.

  9. ’64 Imp, fake SS, 350/TH350, Holley 4 barrel, Comp cam, foot wide Cragar rears, glasspacks, imprudent speed and unsafe start tickets, man I miss that car…

  10. I took my 12 year old son for a ride in a friends 1973 Pontiac station wagon.

He said, ” It feels like you are floating”

He has a corvette, new F-150’s, and constantly leases different things. The only car my son wants to go in is the RWD V-8
