It is clear that the nomination is going to be handed to Biden. Until an exigency

I truly don’t like the guy, but I don’t like seeing him make a buffoon of himself because of his age and mental condition. That does not mean that I don’t want justice served over what he has done, just that dancing on his mental collapse is not something enriching.

The Democrats have zero viable candidates. The DNC knows that a sizable percentage of their own voters will not support a socialist like Sanders. Warren is irritating, Buttigieg was an empty suit, and Bloomberg and Steyer were too much billionairish for many members of the party. So they’re left with Biden, whose doofus persona may successfully mask a history of incompetence and corruption. But it won’t get to that.
The Democrats also know that they cannot rig their convention any more than they already are without further angering portions of their voting base. If Joe Biden does have serious cognitive decline, this is perfect for the politburo leadership – they can push Biden to the nomination with the confidence that whoever is the Vice President will ultimately be the President either behind the scenes, or by succession if Biden dies or is adjudged mentally incompetent. This is a scenario where the DNC can try to elevate Hillary, Michelle, or whomever they choose “legitimately” because the nominee chooses the VP nominee and not the delegates.
Biden can maintain a low profile during the campaign because the belief will be that the President will actually be whomever the VP candidate is. Of course, Biden will still have to campaign, but this would be damaging to his physical and/or mental health – which is all the better for the DNC because Biden may actually kick the bucket or become legally incompetent during the campaign – leaving the DNC’s desired choice as the actual candidate.
Bernie Sanders is a socialist and an evil bastard. However, he comes in at a distant second to the evil that is the DNC leadership – who are willing to sacrifice Joe Biden in order to bambozzle the party faithful and get their way.
They’re gambling that Biden will last long enough, but it’s a crap shoot.
Actually, that description works no matter how you look at it.
If it’s Biden and Clinton, Biden doesn’t stand a snowball’s chance in Hell of surviving the first month. Either through Section 4 of the 25th or through a trip to Ft. Marcy Park.
