A number of clinical trials of existing medications were rapidly approved without requiring double blind studies. Soliris is showing promise, by preventing the immune system from overreacting, which can itself result in death. This is buying time for Covid-19 patients to be treated with other medications.
AND: by increasing demand, it may bring down the cost of Soliris, which would be good news for the 600 people in this country with the one very rare condition it controls –at a cost of approx $500,000/year.
Hello, great news. I hope that scientists and doctors will find a cure and it will all be over soon. If you feel symptoms, call a doctor anyway. This is the best step, even if it’s not a coronavirus, but a cold or flu. Do not go to the office to infect colleagues, even if you are “completely no one to replace.” Do not go to a meeting with friends, even if “the temperature is low, and the beer is treated better and a good laugh”. Do not go to the bazaar to buy lemons, Jerusalem artichoke roots, pear branches or anything else that your grandmother advised you to smear so as not to get sick. Respect those around you, and do not expose them to danger, or even inconvenience, discomfort, and time and money spent on treatment. And consult a doctor.
