Whether they get held up by a gun-toting robber or an employee skims a little cash out of the register, there are many ways proprietors can succumb to theft. One shop owner in Brazil became a victim of the crime recently. He began to realize that someone was taking money from the cash drawer in his business so he decided to not just find out who was responsible, but get some vengeance at the same time, and he recorded it all on his cell phone. more

Sorta like sewing fish hooks inside your pocket to catch pickpockets.

I used to repurpose the circuit boards out of disposable cameras for a similar purpose. The capacitor holds enough juice to make you reassess your choices and it’s easy to reset them.

Friend of a friend, owned one of the old school gas stations. You remember them don’t you? The kind with a service garage as part of the business.
He had trouble with people stealing his tools while he was distracted with a customer purchasing gas. Until he installed a peg board with metal hooks to hang his tools on. On the back side the hooks were connected to an electric fence charger.
He could safely remove tools as needed by listening to the charging cycle of the charger, and removing the needed tool during the short time the electric charge was off. The would be thieves were quickly found and confronted after hearing shouted curse words, and hearing the tools clang on the cement floor.
She seemed so nice … and friendly …
