Next stage of Russia collusion probe set as Rosenstein points clear finger at FBI

 Just The News:

Former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein made clear in his Senate testimony he is no Harry Truman or Janet Reno, two larger-than-life Washington figures from yesteryear who embraced the idea that no matter what went wrong on their watch the bucks stops at the top.

During three-plus hours of uncomfortable interrogation by Republicans and Democrats alike, Rosenstein repeatedly tried to blame others – the FBI and its former deputy director Andrew McCabe often – for failures in a Russia probe he personally supervised.

Rosenstein testified he would not have signed the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant targeting Trump adviser Carter Page for a fourth time in summer 2017 if the FBI had just told him about exculpatory evidence.

He acknowledged the Robert Mueller special counsel probe went on for 18 more months after the FBI knew, by August 2017, that there was no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 election.

And he claimed the FBI kept him in the dark about the fact that its field agents had recommended closing down an investigation of Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn all the way back in January 2017.  read more

  1. I’m wondering if he’ll start singing before someone else does.
I’m pretty sure they already have a snitch, but I didn’t expect it would be him- he did agree to testify and didn’t bitch about it. Maybe he is talking.

  2. Then there’s always the remote possibility that this seditious swamp rat knew just enough to keep signing those phony scoping memorandums prepared by Robespierre Mueller and his Committee of Public Safety in order to destroy the Trump Administration. Rosenstein was obviously looking for plausible deniability when he allowed the Russian Collusion Hoax to get started and let Mueller appoint all those unbiased Clinton supporters to his Committee of Public Safety. He seems to believe that he did it by the book by signing everything anyone put on his desk.

  3. Wow! Holy Shit! This will probably result in exactly… nothing.

Well, with sports laying dead in a ditch, I can understand the hype.

    Go Team! Or something. Anything.

  4. I can’t wait to find out all the things that all these people are going to get away with. Right now we only know some of the things all these people are going to get away with.

  5. The best we can hope for is they go to jail, but other than that, they’ll lose their jobs. And they’ll be really sad when they’re hired at cnn or msnbc. Or shit, why not FOX? Marie Harf and Donna Brazil are there already.

  6. “I can’t wait to find out all the things that all these people are going to get away with. Right now we only know some of the things all these people are going to get away with.”

This is exactly where we are. And the absolute best we can hope for.

And Fuck every single member of the DOJ for allowing this to be reality. All of them. Seriously. You feckless cunts. You could have applied the law. Now somebody else has to apply the violence. Which is far uglier and less directed.

  7. This nonsense is allowing the criminals to demonstrate their lying skills. No difficult questions are being asked. This is allowing them to ramble on about how innocent they are and point fingers at each other. They will think they got away with it. At least, until the actual evidence magically appears.
