The U.S. Soccer Board of Directors has voted to revoke a policy that required athletes remain standing for the national anthem.

“The policy was put in place after Megan Rapinoe kneeled in solidarity with the peaceful protest inspired by Colin Kaepernick, who was protesting police brutality, and the systemic oppression of black people and people of color in America. It has become clear that this policy was wrong and detracted from the important message of Black Lives Matter,” the U.S. Soccer Federation said in a statement about the vote Tuesday. more

  8. Who cares? When that crazy, repulsive dyke told America to eff off we began our boycott. None of the old gang supports women’s pro soccer any more. Women’s College soccer lost a lot of our support.

  12. How about they stop claiming they represent the U.S. The American people have no say in who ends up on these teams. Americans get a lot of disrespect from foreignors, who don’t know the adverage American, but view these athletes, celebs, artists, actors and musicians and believe we support them.

  18. In Thailand they trained elephants to play soccer. I watched that a couple of times. It is actually entertaining and held my attention. Chimps playing soccer would be fun too. There is a big lion in a wild animal park somewhere that likes to kick around a soccer ball and looks like he has a lot of fun doing it.

    But US Women’s Soccer? It would not get one second of my time.

  20. CNN now calls euro type soccer “football”. I started reading an article about it a few weeks ago and after some confusion I realized it was about soccer, not American football.

    CNN is always about blurring the lines between the US and Europe. They think the euro ways of doing things is better. Never mind our own brand of football, euro football is better because it is “global” where American football is just too American for them.

    Yeah, well we had slavery, while the euros had two devastating wars and death camps, but yeah, they are better than we are.

  25. As apparently the ONLY soccer fan in the IOtW universe, my comment is that this is disappointing but not surprising. One more sport to take off of my watching list.
