New York’s SAFE Act Useless As Shootings Spike Across State

Bearing Arms:

At least 22 people have been shot in New York City this weekend, including a man who was gunned down at point blank range as he was washing his car in Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon, and the rapid rise in violent crime isn’t limited only to the state’s biggest city. In Syracuse, 9 people were shot on Saturday evening at what’s being described as a “celebration” in the city.

The party in a parking lot behind WCNY Studios near the intersection of Wyoming Street and Marcellus was attended by hundreds according to Syracuse Police Chief Kenton Buckner.

All nine victims were sent to the hospital with various injuries although the most seriously hurt was also the youngest: a 17-year-old male.

Syracuse Police report, when officers arrived, that people were running away and yelling.

Buckner said the incident was first called in as a stolen car complaint, and when officers arrived people said there was a person shooting. Buckner said his officers did not hear gunfire while they were at the scene.

In the state capitol of Albany, Chief Eric Hawkins and Mayor Kathy Sheehan held a press conference on Friday to implore the public to cooperate with law enforcement as they try to cope with a staggering increase in violent crime.

  1. @Bad_Brad – and others, NY is like many states, while generally seen as blue there are many other areas that are not succumbing to such ‘spikes’.

Always: LOOK at the red/blue county maps of 2016.

    NY:

Note where the blue is vs where the red is? This is the same for ALL blue states.

    Urban, suburban, semi rural, rural.

And then there are those in NY state that like to ‘stay off the grid’ when it comes to voting as well as access to voting in person on a early winter day for older people and all.

  3. @Bad_Brad- – I did mean to say that ALL is NOT lost!

IOW, there are MANY, or enough, ANTI-SAFE signs in yards when we are ‘up’ there driving about in the countryside, in the fresh mountain air.

    Albany? – Blue
    Rochester? – Blue
    Buffalo? – BLUE
    Plattsburgh? – Blue
    Syracuse? – BLUE
    NYC- forgettaboutit

(we are waaay downstate, but I know my state and the disparities).

For instance? Look back at that map and in the waaaay upper right corner, NEAR THE BORDER, is BLUE because that is where SUNY Plattsburg is and well you know what comes with that, but the point is??

Everywhere, county, in between is reddish?

    Location…Location…LOCATION!

  4. It’s like the Son of Sam had thousands of children who grew up knowing that one day nobody would give a damn about murdering people in New York City. These poor victims of racism are just crying out for social justice. Mayor Mugabe and his Black Colored Lesbian wife are encouraging this lawlessness, because it helps make their point that this country needs to be fundamentally transformed. Zimbabwe on the Hudson?

  5. Releasing hardened criminals and muzzling the police while forbidding firearms to honest people for protection guarantees the politicians will have lots of murders to brag about…..in hell.

  7. Maybe, just maybe, someone considered of ‘importance’ will be hit by one of these stray bullets and then the point will be driven home. WHO might that person be? Well, maybe a governor, mayor or celebrity who is backing this mess?

  8. Suicide by voting strikes again. New Yorkers keep voting for the same totalitarian democrat communist pieces of shit and they deserve everything they get. Screw them.

The effects of this insane law are just beginning. It is going to get far, far worse. At some point vigilante militia groups will form and rough frontier justice will be the norm.

  9. @ Junius
That may be true, but the full force of the law will come down on them because stopping vigilantes is far more important than stopping actual crime. And you can bet they will have a million dollar bond to see day light.

  10. As long as it is socially acceptable to not only disrespect but literally preach HATE about others in our society, there will be violence that in the overall scheme of things appears to be pointless. The shootings in NYC are a reflection of the left’s systemic jealousy that they cultivate which emboldens people who have any grievance to act violently towards another. BLM is an extension of this. Another factor in NYS is that just because the liberals rammed the SAFE act into law does not mean for one second that violence would be stopped. It merely created a new category of felonies that people could be charged with. It had nothing to do with curbing violence.
