DOJ Has Been on an Indictment Spree Against Violent Anarchists

Townhall: Since late May and early June, violence has erupted in leftist cities around the country and the Department of Justice has wasted no time indicting and arresting violent rioters.

In Philadelphia:

U.S. Attorney William M. McSwain announced that David Elmakayes, 24, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was charged by criminal complaint with malicious damage of property with an explosive device and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.  The defendant is currently in federal custody and will make his initial appearance in federal court today.  The government will be seeking the defendant’s detention pending trial on these charges.

The complaint alleges that on June 3, 2020, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Elmakayes used an explosive device to heavily damage an automated teller machine (ATM) on the sidewalk at 217 East Westmoreland Street in North Philadelphia.  When he was arrested a short time later, he had three more explosive devices in his possession, as well as a .32 caliber pistol.

“Blowing up an ATM and illegal firearms possession are not acts of protest against perceived injustice.  They are federal felonies and will be treated as such,” said U.S. Attorney McSwain.  “As alleged, Elmakayes tried to take advantage of the unrest in Philadelphia to get away with a violent crime.  Now he will face the consequences.”

  1. I wonder what percent of those violent “protesters” will ever be charged with anything and how many of those charged will ever actually be convicted of anything of substance with real penalty for it?

  2. It’s a start. I’d love to see all the news footage and video available of people looting stores used to track them all down and prosecute them for theft with minimum 1-year jail sentences with no possibility of reduction. I don’t care if you stole a pair of shoes from Footlocker–off to jail you go if you were caught on video.

  3. Federal charges. Federal court. Federal jail. No parole.
He will wind up doing hard time in a federal pen; far, far away from his homies. This is the only kind of punishment these assholes fear.

  4. Good strategy. The ‘leaders’ of antifa & BLM are cowards and will never put themselves in a position to be arrested for anything other than a misdemeanor.

Make the guys like this do some hard time and they may wise up to the fact that they’re useful idiots. Next step is to charge those organizations under the RICO act. Having their assets frozen would be a death blow. Marxists are always well funded.

  5. The federal system is some of the hardest time you can do. These punks are in for a nightmare, within 3 days they’ll be reduced to nothing more than some beefed up lifers bodily fluids depository.
