Celebs Demand Studios ‘Divest from Police’ to ‘Prove Black Lives Matter to Hollywood’

This outta be fun.

Breitbart: Hollywood celebrities, including Queen Latifah, Idris Elba, and Angela Bassett, are demanding that studios cut their ties with police departments, which usually provide security for movie and TV shoots as well as glitzy events like the annual Academy Awards ceremony.

They are also calling on studios to stop producing “anti-black content” — which they defined as shows and movies that glorify police brutality and dehumanize or criminalize black people.

The demands are contained in an open letter that has been signed by a slew of notable black Hollywood stars including Chadwick Boseman, Viola Davis, Janelle Monáe, Octavia Spencer, Billy Porter, Tiffany Hadish, and Kerry Washington.

“We know these changes have the power to change Black lives in America. It is time for Hollywood to acknowledge its role and take on the responsibility of repairing the damage and being a proactive part of the change,” the letter states. “We demand better. Prove that Black Lives Matter to Hollywood by taking bold moves to affirm, defend and invest in Black lives.  Follow the examples of the Minneapolis School District, Denver Public Schools, the University of Minnesota and many other institutions in divesting from the policing system and investing in Black community. more here

  1. I challenge Hollywood to “acknowledge its role and take on the responsibility of repairing the damage and being a proactive part of the change.” Translation – let’s make some expensive movies no one wants to see. And then bring Ricky Gervais back to mock us at next year’s Golden Globe Awards.

  2. Would love to see a Twilight Zone dimension where every one not black just vanished and they had the world all to themselves. Then, would like to see who they would blame for all their troubles. Would they actually work or would the U.S. just turn into another Africa?

Notable? Nevah hoid of any of them.

Some people are never satisfied. If this was 1965, with very few black faces on TV or in the movies, I would agree with them. Now they are just yelling “Gimme more and more and more”. What more are we or the government supposed to do for them? I can’t give any more. The Asians made it on their own sweat and desire to learn. Anybody can.

These “notables” can all fuck off.

So…… every Quentin Tarantino movie ever made. Hey, it’s a start.

  5. How bout Hollywood divest itself from movies where police try to deal with black felons? Time for movies where black felons commit crimes, cops turn on lights and sirens and run the other way. Would you like that, Hollywood? BLM sure would. Sure would put a dent in profiling complaints.

  6. That worked well for Homeland when a few seasons in they decided portraying Muslims as terrorist was bad. Couldn’t tell you if the show is even on anymore. Movie theaters are going bankrupt and are going to be a casualty of media hysteria and blue state shutdowns so whatever.

  7. To MissInMi, I double fag dare you and THROW in a pedo for extra measure.

Couldn’t help myself on that one, I really despise those people. There has not been a really great movie in like twenty years anyway, they suck and are vacuous and vapid POS’s. Real garbage, the real privileged elite class. Notice! All ethnic colors in that case.

That is why this is NOT about race. Race is to be Human.

It’s about economics more than anything.

@MissKitty – grew up with the same!

  8. If the point is proving that “Black Lives Matter to Hollywood,” shouldn’t the demand be studios cut their ties with not black producers? Not black agents? Not black directors?

How does not black producers, not black agents, not black directors, cutting contracts with the rest of the help, help the black help?

  9. Doesn’t Angela Bassett play a cop in a TV show on Fox? Was thumbing channels the other day and saw her in a police uniform. Guess they will have to kill off her character.

  11. Hollywood has abandoned the American Audience. Hollywood is chasing China’s box office. China has already shown real racism toward blacks and there is no such thing as yellow guilt. The big joke is China will steal all of Hollywood’s technical secrets. Then the Chinese will kick the studios out while using their stolen knowledge to compete with the studios.

  12. The only one that surprised and disappointed me was Idris Elba. He’s never gotten involved (or at least used his celebrity to push his opinion) in this sort of crap.

Angela Basset does play an LA cop in “The Rookie”.

Hell, the cops ought to walk away from providing security for any Hollywood function and leave it to BLM, the Black Panthers or the Crips or Bloods. That would last until the first few actors were murdered and robbed by the security detail.

  13. Idris Elba can stay out of our politics unless he is willing for us to give some opinions about what is happening over in the UK (especially with the raping of British school children by a certain POC group that like yelling really loud before they stab people or blow them up).

If they get rid of the police, this should also include traffic cops, bomb sniffing dogs and any department that deals with stalky fans.

Good luck with the stretch limo traffic jams, bomb threats and girlfriends and boyfriends that you have yet to meet personally but they know that they are supposed to be soul mates with you forever.

  14. The studios should add to every contract that the stars are required to pay for and provide security for any project they work on and these demands will evaporate REAL fast.
