Disgraced Democrat congressman mysteriously released from federal prison with 5 years left to serve

BPR:

A former Democratic congressman who was indicted and sentenced to a decade in prison on charges of bribery and corruption linked to his failed Philadelphia mayoral bid has been mysteriously released from federal prison.

Chaka Fattah, was released by the U.S. Bureau of Prisons without explanation last week, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer, well ahead of serving his 10-year sentence for a wide range of charges that included money laundering, racketeering, and bank fraud.

According to reports, the former Pennsylvania Democrat congressman had more than five years left on his sentence after reporting to prison in 2016. He was indicted along with several associates. In one instance, Philadelphia Magazine reported, he tried to cover up $18,000 by forging documents to make it appear as though he had sold a Porsche that belonged to his wife, Renee Chenault Fattah, who was an anchor at a local news desk at the time. more

  1. Shouldn’t the reason for his release be readily available public information?

Or is there some provision of law that allows it to be kept secret in some cases?

  2. I don’t understand how it is that it takes an action in the judicial branch to imprison a criminal, but an action in the executive branch can let him out (I exclude pardons and commutations). Why is there not a court record of a prisoner’s release, one that is a public record?

  3. Let me guess, this disgraced black former congress critter was released from prison because of the wu flu and because he’s black. No other answer available, his black life evidently only matters to him and him only (and his liberal and BLM allies) and no other blacks (or honkies) need apply for special privileges.

  4. It would seem there is more to this then a Covid-19 release and the BOP hasn’t been shy about citing that as an example. I thought you had to serve 90% of your time on a Federal sentence. Maybe he’s informing on some of his erstwhile buddies.

  5. H&! TV has been showing old episodes of The Untouchables again all day on Sunday afternoons lately. Maybe it’s time to bring back Elliot Ness and the Feds once again to break up all the anarchy and chaos and rioting that has broke out all across the country. Start enforcing RICO laws now against these bastards and put them away for a long time.

  6. Little-known fact: Chaka served the first two and a half years of his sentence at the same minimum security prison as his son, Chaka “Chip” Fattah Jr., who was in for bank and tax fraud. Chip got out just in time for Christmas last year. Now the whole family will be together at Thanksgiving. Except the Chip’s momma is not daddy’s current wife. Anyway, the second Chaka was released. What a heartwarming story.
