Renewable energy implicated in rolling blackouts during California heat wave

JUST THE NEWS: Recent rolling energy blackouts in California are due at least in part to the state’s self-imposed dependency on renewable energy sources, according to industry leaders and a top state assemblyman. The situation has left the Golden State struggling to meet demand amid an ongoing heat wave that continues to strain power grids increasingly dependent on solar and wind.

The blackouts, which occurred late last week and which state officials warn may continue in the weeks ahead, left at least hundreds of thousands of state residents without power for hours. Gov. Gavin Newsom warned this week that further outages could soon put millions more out of power for indeterminate amounts of time. MORE

  1. The problem is nation wide. Issues like this occur when you continue to elect people that have no practical experience doing anything but yet constantly think they are the smartest ones in the room and are capable of running your life for you. I think the common name for these useless assholes is Attorney.

  3. Gov Witless is trying to come up with a way to institute rolling blackouts here in MI. After all, if other state D Governors do it, she must, too. Extremely witless.

Us conspiracy theorist that live in this state have theorized our State Nazis want control of the utility Companies and total control of the grid. Ask the mayor of LA why. He’s already doing it.

  5. Bad_Brad – Just remember that 95% of the Lawyers give the rest of ’em a bad name! If this country ever does manage a so-called “reset” let’s hope let’s hope the Lawyers are the first ones to feel the pain and that FDR sends Shakespeare the memo!

  6. I am “shocked” at the “current” situation. This “shines some light” California’s green blunders and I am “energized” to get more info that I can “power” through. This has “sparked” my curiosity and I am “amped” to learn more. Hopefully there is little “resistance”to my study.

  7. @Bad_Brad — That would be wonderful! The only problem is the high proportion of elected officials who are lawyers. )-:

Needs constitutional amendments, both state and feddle. Or initiatives where part of the system.

  9. It’s easy to figure what happened to cause the blackouts. The windmills slow down while chopping up flocks of migrating birds thereby dropping their electric power output.

  10. Germany had the same problem with their go green and freeze
plan over the past several years. They actually kicked
people out of their powerless homes in areas where the problem was bad enough to do so.

  11. California smoke is obscuring nearby states’ nighttime sky. My lawnmower is EPA regulated to run at 2600 RPM instead of 3200 RPM to meet goverment emissions standards. Lawnmowers never did obscure the stars. If you collect a government paycheck you are a fucking idiot. WTF??
