Former NFL Star Burgess Owens Full Remarks at 2020 RNC

Burgess Owens, a former NFL star now running for Congress in Utah, will share his story of “second chances” and how President Trump has delivered results for Black Americans.

“This November, we stand at a crossroads. Mobs torch our cities while popular members of Congress promote the SAME socialism my father fought against in World War II.”

“I’m running for Congress because we don’t need more career politicians. We need a few more chimney sweeps. We need more leaders like President Trump who understand the freedoms that make up the fabric of America.”

  1. I have asked many of my friends to watch his speech where he says “America doesn’t owe me reparations, the Democrats do.”

  2. Why didn’t he make sure the voters understood there is a KKK sympathizer right in the Governor’s mansion in Virginia, and the democrats voted in a KKK grand cyclops for 53 years in West Virginia? Their hero Margaret Sanger, often praised the KKK as well.

    Lost opportunities.

  3. Owens is receiving little help from Republican leadership in the state. They are hanging him out to dry, much as they did to Love in 2018. Local media are also skewing coverage to attack Owens and praise McAdams. I was both pleased and surprised that he won the primary so convincingly (44%) against a crowded field with a couple of very good opponents.

McAdams is gearing up for some serious mudslinging, and has already started with accusations of plagiarism. His campaign seems to be running against Trump, more than Owens himself. Personal attacks are coming from out-of-state surrogates.

McAdams is the golden boy of the local oligarchy. He always did what he was told to do as Salt Lake County Mayor. They gifted him the 4th Congressional District after he had to grease several very unpopular items through for them (State Prison relocation, Utah Inland Port and relocation of the homeless shelters from Downtown are the most prominent).

Owens is essentially unknown in politics in the state. Without media coverage, it will be difficult for him to meet people face-to-face, with the Xi-virus restrictions. I am not sure his campaign manager is up to the task. Not much time left. Early voting starts October 20.
