AG Barr Announces New Oversight Reforms at FBI Pertaining to FISA Applications

Dan Bongino:

At long last the DOJ is announcing reforms related to compliance and oversight at the FBI when it comes to the FISA process.

Abuses of the FISA process have been under scrutiny since the spygate scandal brought them to light. Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz issued a damning report in December finding the FISA warrant applications targeting former 2016 Trump campaign adviser Carter Page were riddled with mistakes, including 17 examples of misconduct, misinformation or outright lies. In January, the top judge from the FISA Court ruled that at least two of the FISA applications used to spy on Carter Page were “not valid.” more here

  1. Reforms? How about prosecutions and convictions?

This appears to be a case of “a bunch of people did a bunch of illegal shit, but now we’re going to do it differently”

Screw that – prosecute and convict!

  2. @willy’s

“…Until then, I will demand a free Wendy’s frosty with every FISA application…..”

That is, if your local Wendy’s hasn’t been burned to the ground first.

  3. What a tepid, limp-wristed response. How about arrests and prosecutions? How about cleaning out the intelligence community from top to bottom? Jesus fucking Christ. [/facepalm]

  4. So just trust you, you patched it all up – nothing more to see. BS Barr – your patch doesn’t cut it. If Trump gets a second chance at it, your gone on day 2!!

  5. @Jimmy- aah don’t feel bad, he was too ROUGH around the edges, maybe the ‘mayor of America’, but hey, that ain’t, or wasn’t good enough to be President. (sarc)

And, he was and is not a good enough speaker…(uh, more sarc).

You know, he is on for an hour these daze on 770AM 3-4 EST.

I am sure you can get it on the net as well. Oh wait, know that I think about it, he HAS a podcast. I have never heard it as I do not do podcasts!

I DO enjoy the hour with the Mayor though…

I have to admit WRONG on Sessions and WRONG on Barr…what the hell, HOPE NOT.

  6. Until ALL Federal employees and elected officials are held to the same set of laws as the rest of us peons, there is NO justice in the so-called justice system. In fact, because they are all insiders, the laws should be even more strict and the penalties even more harsh.

And I just heard Barr, yet again, today at the Kenosha roundtable mouthing the same two paragraphs about “no one being above the law…no one will escape prosecution…blah, blah, blah, flippity blah!”

200 local/state/federal agencies “committed to blah, freakin’ blah, blah”. A hint here and a veiled threat there. Desk plaques and Atta Boys all around! This one’s on me!!

Do they think we don’t know?!

Honestly? Trump should be embarrassed at all this interagency back slapping and self-congratulations for doing jobs everyone is totally overpaid to do. To hear these agency heads tell it, you’d think no one is more surprised than themselves that they could actually work together so well! It’s freaking nauseating to hear them go on and on and on, falling all over themselves to congratulate and effusively thank the Under-Assistant Assistant Director and on and on and on down the line to the guy who put the little doorstop under the door when they came into the room.

  7. @Abigail Adams – “Trump should be embarrassed at all this interagency back slapping and self-congratulations for doing jobs everyone is totally overpaid to do.”

And this is his…fault?? How?? Oh because he is the CEO?? How long has this been goin’ on?? FOR YEARS???

What am I NOT getting here?? He should hardly feel embarrassed in fact I bet he’s DISGUSTED.

    What are your expectations?

  8. Golly, I stated it on the Ric Grenell post but it works here as well.
“We have a couple of choices…. sit here at our ‘puters and take it like men or take it upon ourselves to administer justice via the hemp. I am sure there are others but those are the two I came up with.”

  9. ghost — Get off my back! Yes, it’s embarrassing. Did I say it was his fault? Anywhere?

You weren’t here for the ’16 cycle. You’ve got no clue my loyalty or the hours I put in to get Trump elected.

I’m sure he is disgusted by these on-the-ground visits where everyone spends the first 45 minutes self-aggrandizing. It’s like attending a Dining Out on a military base, without the genuine charm of it and the meal.

I bet you didn’t even listen to the Kenosha roundtable, did you?
