Facebook paying users to delete accounts ahead of November

FOX: Facebook is paying some users to deactivate their accounts up to six weeks before the 2020 presidential election, according to screenshots from Washington Post reporter Elizabeth Dwoskin.

The effort is part of a new research project Facebook announced in an Aug. 31 blog post to “better understand the impact of Facebook and Instagram on key political attitudes and behaviors during the U.S. 2020 elections.”

“We’d like to know how much you’d need to be paid in for deactivating your Instagram account…in late September for either [one] week or [six] weeks,” an Instagram notice to users reads in a screenshot Dwoskin posted to Twitter. “To participate, you must be willing to deactivate your account for both time periods and not use Instagram during that time.” more

  1. And I ditched Fakebook for free. Years ago.
    I demand FBreparations. Immediately.
No justice. No piece of the pie.

Alright Zuckerberg, you pencil necked freak/geek. Pay up now or I might spring for a man’s haircut for you at Nancy’s salon.
Yeah. You look like twiggy. Bangs? Seriously. That’s queer. In the old meaning of the word. Odd.

  2. I volunqueered my Petey B to cancel his Facebook page two weeks before the erection so he could spend all that time stuffing my ballot box, better known as my unbleached elastic starfish!

  3. One site I follow about Common Sense Homesteading (I enjoy their pics of farms and recipes) had a post the other day that they were asked to delete their page and would be paid for it. Half the readers said it was a hoax and the other half said it was electioneering.

  4. This makes absolutely no financial sense. Fecebook is in the business of HAVING active user accounts. Zuck the Schmuck simply MUST have political reasons for this.

And I’m with @Ann Nonymous Prime. It should be worth a little something to FB for me to continue boycotting them!

  5. @Chasten

Your Petey B might mistake vote for vole and stick one or a bunch of those toothy little buggers into your starfish. They’re bigger than gerbils. Enjoy, Senor!
