Shaquille O’Neal Defends Police in Breonna Taylor Case: ‘I Imagine You Would Fire Back’

Breitbart: As with his colleague Charles Barkley, TNT basketball commentator Shaquille O’Neal drew the ire of the left after he made comments supportive of the police in the Breonna Taylor case.

During his Thursday broadcast, O’Neal began his comments pointing out that the Louisville, Kentucky, police officers involved in the Breonna Taylor case could not be legally charged with “murder.”

O’Neal also seemed sympathetic with the police officers who fired back after being fired upon first by Taylor’s boyfriend,

“You have to get a warrant signed, and some states do allow no-knock warrants,” O’Neal said during the NBA ON TNT broadcast. “And everyone was asking for murder charges. When you talk about murder, you have to show intent. A homicide occurred, and we’re sorry a homicide occurred. When you have a warrant signed by the judge, you are doing your job, and I would imagine that you would fire back.”

O’Neal also agreed with co-host Charles Barkley that “lumping in” the Taylor shooting with other cases such as George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery is not the proper way to look at Taylor’s case. more

  1. Props to Charles and Shaq. They have stood their ground for the police. Someone shot at the police. What are they supposed to do? Stand there and read Miranda rights to someone trying to kill them?
No-knock raids are an interesting topic and we can have that debate, but the police were doing their job.
If you don’t want to be shot by the police, put down the weapon as soon as you know it is the police and follow their instructions. Seems rather simple to me.
Yes, I know we can probably find an instance where the police went overboard, but after the facts come out, the vast majority are “good” shoots.

  2. Tony R – yes. I was referring to the actual warrant. There is no excuse for someone shooting at the police when they knock and announce themselves.

I can say what I would do if someone broke into my house (even the police, if they have a no-knock warrant). As soon as they announce themselves, my .40 is on the floor and my hands are in the air.

  3. I had a heated e-mail exchange with my daughter about the shooting of Breonna Taylor. My daughter insisted that she was a good person, who did not deserve to die. While I agreed that she did not deserve to die, I replied “you lie down with dogs, you wake up with fleas”. After reading both articles, it seems she was associating with a lot of “less than special” people who were into crime big-time. It was only a matter of time before she was killed.

  4. Shaq is a normal guy. He’s also at least of average, if not above, intelligence.

Compare to Le Bron James, who is kinda dumb. And that NFL hairball – who we never hear speak, but forwards releases of b.s. written by his white girlfriend handler.
