Florida schools reopened en masse, but a surge in coronavirus didn’t follow, a USA TODAY analysis finds

USAtoday: Many teachers and families feared a spike in COVID-19 cases when Florida made the controversial push to reopen schools in August with in-person instruction.

A USA TODAY analysis shows the state’s positive case count among kids ages 5 to 17 declined through late September after a peak in July. Among the counties seeing surges in overall cases, it’s college-age adults – not schoolchildren – driving the trend, the analysis found.

The early results in Florida show the success of rigorous mask wearing, social distancing, isolating contacts and quick contact tracing when necessary, health experts said.

“Many of the schools that have been able to successfully open have also been implementing control measures that are an important part of managing spread in these schools,” said Dr. Nathaniel Beers, who serves on the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Council on School Health. more

  1. That can’t be true. Last night Joe Biden told me (personally cuz he looked at me in the camera) that 200 milliuh-thousand died yesterday in Florida alone….because there’s lots of empty chairs at the tables….#ALLCHAIRSLIVESMATTER

  2. My kids have been back full time (parochial high school) for 7 weeks teachers and students are now fudging “proper ” mask wearing To appease the DOH officials who’d love to shut them down because it’s making the public schools look foolish for demanding online only and cases are still going down. Contract tracers keep identifying outside ‘exposed” kids and an occasional positive mostly asymptomatic if not false positive case pops up. Subsequent quarantine rules are arbitrary when they occur. Upside is What’s its teaching the kids is that the government is run by complete imbeciles in a way we never could have taught them.

  3. It’s… a… fake… plague.

It’s about control and abuse by assholes in power who shouldn’t be there. It’s also a chance to make the kind of people who join HOA boards just so they can levy a lien on someone’s home over a flag pole being 7mm too tall or a house being painted in taupe instead of bone white lord over perfect strangers for not wearing a mask on the public bike trails. In other words, cunts with power and cunts desperate for power love the fake plague because it gives them an excuse to abuse people.

Some of these power mad abusers deserve to die for something a little bit less subtle than Coronavirus.

I hadn’t looked at it this way. It’s unintentionally teaching kids about liberty vs tyranny!

    That’s tyranny…not tranny.
