One of these videos every couple of days would bring culture to the uncultured and beautiful music to the ears of the tone deaf. I canât wait to hear Wagnerâs âGotterdammerungâ accompanying Dementia Joeâs last teleprompter speech from the Wilmington Bunker.

That conductor is Gustavo Dudamel. He has a passion for bringing classical music education to the poorest youth, particularly in his home country of Venezuela. Dudamel himself was a product of the Venezuela Youth Orchestra or El Sistema. He has repeatedly spoken out against the current government of his home country and, in turn, that government has punished the Youth Orchestra program.
El Sistema is a wonderful program and well worth spending a little time on YouTube learning about it. Here is an roughly two minute clip of Dudamel and the Simon Bolivar Symphone Orchestra having an absolute blast playing Bernstein’s “Mambo”. The audience goes wild!

…FWIW, I think Greig’s “In The Hall of the Mountain King” from his “Peer Gynt Suite” is a better score for 2020, it starts out sneaky, but gets raw and harsh REAL quick before finishing abruptly in a harsh clashing that could be an AWESOME end, or a TERRIBLE one…

That so warmed my heart. My first exposure to classical music was in 5th grade when our school had an orchestra play. I was mesmerized and never wanted it to end.
That said, I like almost all forms of music. I grew up with the best contemporary music – Rock! The 60s and 70s (and, yes, some from the 80s!) will never be duplicated until the performers stop with the “music by committee” and do their own work. If they have talent, that is. No autotune.
I said “most forms” because I’m allergic to rap and twangy nasally country. It’s kind of a “Mars Attacks” thing.
